Story By: KING OF DIRT – FAIR HAVEN, VT – The 2022 racing season may be winding down, but that’s not stopping registered King Of Dirt Racing Sportsman Modified competitors from taking advantage of every opportunity to improve on their best 12 finishes, including Gary Smith from Five Mile Point Speedway and Jessica Power of Brockville Ontario Speedway.
Gary Smith came in hot for the 2022 Fastline Performance King Of Dirt Racing Championship battle presented by Swagger Factory Apparel. The Harpursville, NY racer has been red hot at both Afton and Five Mile Point Speedways where he picked up a win this past weekend in their fall series driving his Matco Tools – Interstate Homes number 7UP Teo Pro Car. Smith is a pleasant surprise that will shake up the all-time KOD Sportsman Modified win list.
Brockville Ontario Speedway racer Jessica Power currently sits 10th in KOD point standings. She’s been putting in work at both the BOS and Can-Am Speedways during the 2022 season. This past weekend the Kingston, Ontario Canada driver raced in the Brockville Nationals and finished 8th respectively driving her Speedy Auto Service – Greenshield Pest Control number 52 Bicknell Racing chassis. Jessica has a trio of KOD wins to her credit at BOS this season.
Our final driver highlights this week is none other than Utica Rome Speedway Sportsman Modified top gun Matt Janczuk. The Oneida, NY racer has been chasing some big time fall races including Oswego Dirt Week while his home track is done for the year, however he’s already done enough to claim the crown after posting an impressive 12 wins driving his Billy Whittaker Cars & Trucks – Ted’s Body Shop number 33X Teo Pro Car. Hail to the king.
