Story By: TODD STANTON / AFTON MOTORSPORTS PARK – AFTON, NY – Ron Ford and Todd Stanton took a trip down to Susquehanna, PA to meet with The Penn Can Speedway Promoter Keith Beach and his family.
In the meeting a lot of topics were brought up on how both tracks can work together and make it exciting for the racers, the fans and the sponsors.
One of the few exciting things we can announce today is that the winner of each division will receive a free pit pass into the other track. For example the Modified Winner at Penn Can Speedway will receive a pit pass to Afton Motorsports Park that Saturday night. The passes must be used the following night the respective track races. Other exciting stuff will announced as the season gets closer.
Some of the rules were also decided. The FWD 4 Cylinders will run the SCDRA rules with the following exceptions, We will allow rub rails on the outside of the body and you must have a front and rear tow chain or strap for our wreckers to hook up to. The 600cc Modified rules will be released at a later date.
The tire rule for the Modifieds and Sportsman will be the same at both tracks 44/48. Both Afton Motorsports Park and Penn Can Speedway will also allow a 1 month burn off period to help the drivers use up there 38/44s.
We are very excited for all the great things to come with both tracks working together.
Stay Tuned to both Facebook pages for more updates as the 2023 Season gets closer.
