Column By: ROBERT WING / RPW – ELLISVILLE, FL – Jonathan Davenport showed why he’s Superman Saturday night at All-Tech Raceway.
Davenport claimed the $40,000 payday in the XR Racing Series event at the Florida oval, bringing his yearly earnings to over $2 million dollars.
It wasn’t easy for him, though, as Mark Whitener held the lead with about five laps-to-go. The two of them were running neck and neck, side-by-side for several laps.
Lap after lap, the sparks were flying off the tail of Whitener’s ride as he had it brushing the wall coming out of turn 4 but he was unable to hold off Davenport.
Brandon Overton in the Rumley #5 finished second. That’s a team that is often driven by Kyle Larson with a different number. This car, is trying some experimental ideas for Longhorn and things seemed to work well on this night.
Joseph Joiner had another podium finish with a third place finish. This was the same finish he had Friday evening.
