Story By: TOBY LAGRANGE / GLEN RIDGE MOTORSPORTS PARK – FULTONVILLE, NY – The Classic Muscle Parts DIRTcar Sportsman division has been the backbone of the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park for many seasons.
Each year the GM Crate Engine powered division headlines a few special events at the Fastest Quarter Mile on Dirt.
This year will be no exception.
Two such events will hit The Ridge this summer with visits by the DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series and the DIRTcar Sportsman East Region Series.
The DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series will make its first ever visit to the fast quarter mile on Sunday August 20th for the inaugural Battle At The Ridge 50. The best that the Northeast DIRTcar Sportsman division has to offer will invade the quarter mile, which sits on top of the hill overlooking the beautiful Mohawk Valley.
The DIRTcar Sportsman East Region Series event will take place on Sunday June 18th. All weekly #DIRTcarSundayNight divisions will be on the card for both DIRTcar Sportsman Series events.
In 2022 The Ridge hosted a pair of East Region series events. The first took place on June 19th and would see the youngest of the racing Buff brigade – Justin, pick up his first career DIRTcar Series win. It came one week after winning his first Classic Muscle Parts DIRTcar Sportsman feature at the track. The remainder of the top five finishers included Andrew Buff, Cody Ochs, Justin Buff and Ricky Quick.
Fast forward to August 21st and the East Region series returned to The Ridge. Andrew Buff picked up the win over brothers Justin and Zach, Michael Wright and Garrett Poland. Andrew went on to claim his third consecutive track championship a few weeks later.
The 2023 season kicks off for The Ridge on Sunday April 23rd with the inaugural Spring Fling car show and meet and greet day. A tentative practice session is scheduled for Sunday April 30th with opening day scheduled for Sunday May 7th.
