Story By: KING OF DIRT – WEST HAVEN, VT – Mayfield, NY driver Chad Edwards has multiple KOD feature wins to his credit (weekly and touring), multiple track titles at Fonda Speedway, and is a former Northeast Crate Nationals champion.
Now he’s the first entrant to throw down for the crown during the 2023 Elmo’s Speed Supply King Of Dirt Racing Sportsman Modified Series presented by Mad Skins Racecar Bodies.
Edwards registered his home track as Fonda Speedway for the 2023 racing season, where last summer he posted six victories, five second place finishes, and one third place finish for his best 12 earning him 1381 points. Good enough for third overall out of 70 registered competitors.
‘Lunchbox’ has also made an impact on the DIRTcar Sportsman scene most notably at Super Dirt Week in Oswego, NY the past couple of season. He earned the pole for the 2021 Chevy Performance 75 and led many laps before a flat tire ended his bid for a dirt week win. In 2022 he proved he could compete up front again qualifying 4th overall out of 90 drivers and finishing 2nd in the 75-lap main event.
Edwards pilots the Kollar Motorsports Bicknell Racing Chassis and carries support from MJ Edwards Trucking LLC, Bug Off Pest Control, and Pigskin Pros. Solid team with stability from ownership down to crew make his job a little easier weekly.
2023 will be another opportunity for the multi-time KOD Honors award winner and Hall Of Honors member to make a run at wearing the Sportsman Modified crown. He’ll have to put in work to claim his kingdom, as another exceptional field of top talent is expected to throw down for the crown.
King Of Dirt Racing is heading into its 8th year of operation servicing drivers in the Northeast. While the format may have shifted from traveling to weekly, it’s still very much real and viable. Anyone looking to get involved with the series as a marketing partner or product sponsor is welcome to contact KOD directly via messenger, phone, or email.
Since 2015 King of Dirt Racing has worked with various tracks in New York State and Vermont to provide a quality home grown racing series experience. Operating through summer months from April to October, KOD has provided proven championship programs for divisions including Small Block Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds, Pro Stocks, and Limited Sportsman.
