Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – It was a roller coaster evening in the Pigeon Hills for Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, and despite a chaotic heat race that resulted in top wing damage from accidental contact by another competitor, the ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion persevered at the best of his ability, ultimately translating a provisional starting position into a 20th-place finish; Schatz started 29th on the Lincoln Speedway grid.
Schatz, driver of the Advance Auto Parts, Carquest, Ford Motor Company, Ford Performance, Nivel Parts & Manufacturing, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Absolute Automation and Security, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts, No. 15 sprint car, was forced to utilize a provisional starting position after not transferring through is respective heat race, nor the evening’s Last Chance Showdown.
Although a tough trip to Posse Country, the Fargo, North Dakota, native is already looking ahead, taking aim at a pair of starts in the deep south starting with a visit to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama, on Friday, March 24. Schatz’ swing through the southern states will continue at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi, on Saturday, March 25.
Donny Schatz will enter the Talladega and Magnolia pair ninth in the World of Outlaws championship standings padded by three top-ten finishes in his first six Series starts.
