Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / DANNY DIETRICH RACING – GETTYSBURG, PA – It was an exciting and chaotic weekend, to say the least, for Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing, and although “Double-D” was ultimately denied his first win of the season, the Gettysburg native still managed to pad the stat sheet, eventually locking down a pair of top-five outcomes in his two-race campaign, one of which a podium finish at the ever-famous Williams Grove Speedway.
Impressive finishes were just the aftermath of exciting circumstances for “Double-D.” On Friday at Williams Grove Speedway, Dietrich was in a toe-to-toe battle with Lance Dewease, nearly getting by the Hall of Famer with a slider before Dewease tucked his No. 69K back underneath. Dietrich would race on to finish second and about a second behind the leader.
The following evening at BAPS Motor Speedway, Dietrich was forced to battle from the back – not once, but twice – and eventually ended up on his side before resuming action at the tail of the field. Despite the hiccups, Dietrich remained focused and persevered, powering ahead to cap the night fourth in the running order; his tenth top-ten of the year.
“What a weekend. We were definitely fast…things just didn’t work out in our favor,” Dietrich, driver of Gary Kauffman’s Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, #1 Cochran Expressway, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Self Made Racing, No. 48 sprint car, said. “Man, what an effort by my guys. They never give up and I’m appreciative of that. A big rebound on Sunday wouldn’t have been possible without them.”
Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2023 campaign with a big money weekend in Pennsylvania Posse Country kicking-off with the $8,000-to-win Tommy Hinnershitz Classic at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, April 21, followed by the $10,000-to-win Spring Thaw at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday, April 22. The weekend will conclude with a visit to Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, April 23.
