Story By: KENNY SHUPP / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri will honor all moms with the traditional Mother’s Day Night Special Event set for Friday, May 5, 2023 at the Yates County speed plant.
Because of two consecutive weeks of rained out events, the Roy Silvers Memorial which was originally set for April 21 will now be run on May 5 with all wrist bands, rain stubs and 50/50 monies being rolled over.
Due to the fact the schedule for the month of May at Outlaw Speedway is jam packed with extraordinary events, Mother’s Day Night will be run a week prior to the actual Mother’s Day Sunday.
“May is absolutely loaded up with a ton of special nights, stated Siri. Mother’s Day Night, the Mike Jackson Memorial, All Star Circuit of Champion 410 Sprints and the Gary Montgomery RUSH Crate Late Model Special consume every Friday night throughout the entire month. The point is, I always honor Mother’s Day, we are just doing it a week early this season.”
On the card for the May 5 event, it will be a regular Super 7 Show featuring all the weekly divisions including the headline Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modifieds along with a pair of 602 Crate Sportsman Divisions including the Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire and the Knapp and Schlappi Lumber DIRTcar Hoosier Tire classes.
The Brock’s Bowl and Pizzeria Street Stocks, Swarthout Recycling Rookie Sportsman, NAPA Hobby Stocks and Winner’s Circle Deli Mini Stocks complete the adult card. The Fritz Masonry Youth Bandit Class will also see action.
After struggling through two consecutive weeks of abnormally less than favorable track conditions due to spring weather conditions as well as a pair of totally rained out shows, fans and drivers are anxious for clear weather and great racing.
“We had a couple of weeks where we wrestled with the racing surface followed by a night where it rained while we were halfway through our heat events, and we had to cancel. The Friday, April 28 show was also lost to Mother Nature. It has not been a good start to the 2023 season, but it will get better.”
April 2023 weather has taken no prisoners in the northeast as numerous tracks have been battling Mother Nature with rainouts and uncertain track conditions with Outlaw Speedway no exception. Even with abnormally warm weather for most of the early part of the race season, rain showers have been hitting many speedways at inopportune times causing several to lose shows which is a direct contrast from 2022 when inclement weather was not even a consideration with very few, if any rainout occasions.
There is never a charge for camping and free rides are offered on race nights on Outlaw Crusher, the tracks Monster Truck.
The Turn 4 Tavern is open for fans in the main grandstand seating area and the Outlaw Saloon is open in the pit area with both watering holes offering beautiful, unobstructed viewing of the Fast 4/10 of a Mile clay oval from platform decking.
