Story By: GARY HEEMAN / LERNERVILLE SPEEDWAY – SARVER, PA – An action packed night of racing awaits the World’s Finest Race Fans on Friday night as the Jay’s Automotive ULMS Racing Series makes its first of three Lernerville appearances as The Action Track plays host to the annual ‘Willie & Conda McConnell Memorial’ for the area’s top regional Late Model Series.
There’ll be $4,000 up for grabs for the Late Model feature winner on Friday night and the potential for even more cash as lap money begins to stack up throughout the main event. The 30-lap event, in memory of the parents of the McConnell Family, highlights the evening on the track with a complete racing program including time trials and lots of top talent from Pennsylvania and beyond looking to etch their names on the winner’s list.
Also making appearances on Friday night will be the Peoples Natural Gas Sprint Cars, Diehl Automotive Big Block Modifieds and the Millerstown Pic-A-Part Pro Stocks as they continue their season as part of our Fab4 weekly racing program. It will be night three for all divisions on Friday night and if it’s anything like the first two weeks have been, there’s a ton of great racing in store.
Michael Norris has won the most recent ULMS racing program at Lernerville in October, 2022 as part of the Steel City Stampede and coming off a double win weekend at Lernerville and Port Royal Speedway last Friday and Saturday, looks to be formidable competition once again as will 2022 track champion and night one feature winner John Garvin Jr., six-time track champion Alex Ferree and current points leader Tyler Dietz. They’ll be facing a tough group of invaders which could include last year’s race winner Gregg Satterlee, current series points leader Jacob Hawkins, Ryan Montgomery plus Logan Zarin and Daryl Charlier who both scored feature wins in Fab4 racing action in 2022.
AJ Flick brings the points lead into the evening by virtue of a night one victory and a runner-up performance last Friday night. He’ll be looking to extend that lead while potentially looking at more Ohio invaders in the pits as was the case the first two nights. Dale Blaney resides just ten points behind Flick and two points behind Trey Jacobs who resides in the second spot following two strong performances with Attica having both nights off. Just 15 points back and looking faster than ever, is Brandon Spithaler who turned in a dominant performance in last week’s feature victory, his first since April, 2016.
Rex King Jr. holds a slim, seven point lead over Dave Murdick in the Big Block Modified standings heading into Friday night with Garrett Krummert and opening night winner Brian Swartzlander both within striking distance less than 10 points behind King. Mat Williamson returned last Friday night to claim the second Modified checkered flag of the season with his home track, Ransomville Speedway, rained out for the evening.
It’s all Dietz all the time in the Millerstown Pic-A-Part Pro Stock standings as defending champion Tyler Dietz holds an 11 point lead over brother Jake Dietz. Tyler struck for the opening night feature win while Jake collected his first career Lernerville victory last Friday night in a hard fought battle. Behind them, night one runner-up Cody Koteles resides in third place just 19 points out.
Pits will open at 4 PM on Friday night with grandstands opening at 5 PM and racing scheduled to start at 7:30 PM. Adult general admission for Friday night is $20 while children 10 and under are admitted free as always. Pit passes will be available for $30.
