Story By: LINCOLN SPEEDWAY – ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – Just a week shy of the anniversary of his first Lincoln win, Dylan Norris scored his second career Lincoln victory in the pigeon hills on Saturday night. Norris lined up sixth for the feature and was up to second by lap 8 and took the lead at the line on lap 13.
Rookie driver Brett Strickler started on the pole for the 30-lap feature with Chris Arnold lined up second. Strickler and Arnold raced wheel to wheel into turn 1 with Strickler taking the lead out of turn 2.
Sixth starting Dylan Norris got up to third quickly. Zane Rudisill was holding off Chad Trout and Anthony Macri as they challenged him for fifth.
Cameron Smith got upside-down in turn 4 on lap 6 bringing out the red flag. Trout headed to the pits with a flat left rear tire and wheel damage. Trout’s team got the tire changed and he was able to rejoin the field.
The top five for the restart were Strickler, Arnold, Norris, Cole Young and Rudisill. Norris was all over Arnold on the restart. Anthony Macri was up to fifth with Moody vying for the spot.
Norris got under Arnold for second and Young followed sending Arnold back to fourth. Macri caught Arnold and worked the bottom of the track trying to take fourth as Norris closed in on Strickler. Norris took the lead at the line by a nose on lap 13 as they caught lapped traffic. Dylan was pulling away from the rest of the field as he worked his way through traffic. Young was reeling in Strickler when the two made contact in turn 2 causing Strickler to flip which brought out the red flag on lap 17.
Norris, Young, Arnold, Macri and Moody were the top five for the restart. Macri got up next to Arnold and took third coming out of turn 4. Macri got bit by the cushion in turn 2 allowing to retake fourth. Chase Dietz was working on Moody for fifth when Tyler Ross brought out the caution on lap 21 after he spun in turn 4. Zach Allman was also involved.
The top five for the final restart were Norris, Young, Arnold, Macri and Moody. Macri was all over Arnold but could not make the pass for third.
Norris crossed the line 3.755 seconds ahead of Young. Arnold was third and Macri finished fourth. Moody completed the top five.
Chad Criswell Kicks of MacMor Summer Series With a Win
The 2023 MacMor “Summer Series” for the 358 sprint cars kicked off at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday night and Chad Criswell took the win, his fourth career victory at Lincoln.
Pole-sitter, Chad Criswell, led the field into turn 1 with Chris Frank, Kyle Spence, David Holbrook and Jayden Wolf in tow. You could throw a blanket over second through fifth on the first lap. Frank pulled away and the rest of the top five fell into place.
Jayden Wolf brought out the caution on lap 3 as he sat backwards in turn 4. Wolf had been running fifth.
Criswell led Frank, Spence, Holbrook and Steve Owings to the cone for the single-file restart. Criswell pulled away when the green flag dropped.
The yellow flag flew again on lap 6 when Cody Fletcher fell off the pace on the back stretch.
There was no change in the top five for the restart and once again Criswell got a good jump. Spence looked under Frank for second and took the spot. Owings got under Holbrook coming out of turn 2 for fourth.
Criswell was all alone out front as he caught the tail end of the field on lap 11. Owings was up to third on lap 14 after getting by Frank.
Holbrook was all over Frank for fourth and took the spot down the back shoot on lap 17. Holbrook then got by Owings for third and went to work reeling in Spence. As Holbrook was closing in to challenge for second, Spence brought out the caution after stopping in turn 2 on lap 21.
Criswell, Holbrook, Owings, Frank and Doug Hammaker lined up at the front of the field for the restart. Kody Hartlaub looked to the inside of Hammaker on the restart for a spot in the top five but did not make the pass.
The yellow came out on the restart when Bo Gordon stopped in turn 1.
Criswell paced the field slowly on the restart. Hammaker got by Frank for fourth. Jordan Strickler flipped in turn 2 on lap 22 bringing out the red flag.
Criswell, Holbrook, Owings, Hammaker and Frank were the top five for the restart. Owings looked to the outside of Holbrook but could not make the pass. The yellow flag flew one final time on lap 23 when Chase Gutshall stopped at the exit of turn 2.
Criswell, Holbrook, Owings, Hammaker and Hartlaub made up the top five for the green, white, checkered finish.
Criswell got to the checkered flag 1.268 seconds ahead of Owings. Hammaker was third and Holbrook crossed the line fourth. Hartlaub finished fifth after starting eighteenth.
