Story By: JUSTIN COOK / LONGHORN CHASSIS – CHINA GROVE, NC – Longhorn Chassis is pleased to announce an educational partnership agreement with the #1 University in the world for high performance, automotive, and diesel education – the University of Northwestern Ohio.
In an effort to support the growing need for quality fabricators, crew members, mechanics and specialists in the dirt racing industry, Longhorn Chassis will be offering $30,000 in annual scholarships beginning this Fall to help assist full-time students with their financial needs while pursuing a motorsports career.
As a part of their technical strategy, Longhorn Chassis will be providing modern training aids to help UNOH instructors and students stay up-to-date with the advancement of technology in the Late Model and Modified classes.
“There is no question that our sport is in desperate need of fresh minds and skilled hands to help support both manufacturers and race teams alike all across America”, said Longhorn Managing Partner, Steve Arpin. “By taking a lead and investing in our future workforce, our hope is that our entire industry will benefit from graduates who are prepared to execute at a very high level from day 1 no matter where they land.”
As news circled the pit area this past weekend, National Tour Drivers took note at the opportunity for both prospective and current UNOH students.
“I think it’s an awesome thing for a major chassis manufacturer and a school with the resources like UNOH to get these guys and gals ready to make a difference.”, said 4-time World of Outlaws Champion, Brandon Sheppard. “It is an absolute grind racing 100+ nights a year, but the more prepared they are when they show up on the job, the better off us Drivers and Crews will be night in and night out knowing we have people who are ready to adapt and handle adversity.”
“The opportunity for UNOH students to physically interact with top-of-the-line Longhorn training aids while enrolled in classes is such a huge benefit to the student body,” said Dr. Jeffrey A. Jarvis, UNOH President. “This partnership will further enhance students’ abilities prior to graduation and will also provide them with real-world learning opportunities. The University is looking forward working with Longhorn as they invest in future technicians that are obtaining their education at UNOH.”
In addition to working together on the educational front, Longhorn Chassis and UNOH will be partnering to put on a special celebrity event scheduled at Limaland Motorsports Park in July. Specific details will be released at a later date.
