Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – ACCORD, NY – It has been a very rough go of it for Accord Speedway this season.
After extensive off-season work to give the track a new look, surface problems have been persistent.
The good news is that there are many people working hard to remedy the problems.
According to the track’s Facebook page, the bad clay has been scraped off and as of Wednesday, new clay is starting to be added.
With the work going on, racing for Friday, 6/2 is cancelled.
There is hope for a midweek practice and for racing to resume 6/9.
The track is grateful to Bobby Lapp of R. Lapp Excavating, Mike Trautschold who is bringing in a sheepsfoot roller and to everyone else for the help, services and support as they undergo this project.
Those of us who enjoy our trips to Accord are hopeful that this work pays off and that we can get back to enjoying Friday nights at the Bullring.
The Palmer family has put so much into this track and those of us at Race Pro Weekly wish them the best.
Racers and fans, stay tuned to the track’s Facebook page for further updates about the possible practice next week and their possible return to racing on 6/9.
