Column: August Double At Atomic Starts Championship Buildup For WoO Late Models

Column By: NICK GRAZIANO / WORLD OF OUTLAWS – CHILLICOTHE, OH – When the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models return to Atomic Speedway in August, there will only be 10 races left in the 2024 season to crown at champion.
The doubleheader weekend, Friday-Saturday, Aug. 23-24, will kick off that road to the World of Outlaws World Finals with the best Late Model drivers in the country competing for $10,000 on Friday and $15,000 on Saturday for the Fireball 50.
The 3/8-mile Ohio dirt track has produced some of the Series’ best races each year. There have been four different winners in the last four races – Tyler Erb, four-time Series champion Brandon Sheppard, 2018 Series champion Mike Marlar, and reigning Series champion Bobby Pierce.
Erb, who won the 2024 DIRTcar Summer Nationals Late Model title, is currently the only driver with multiple Series wins at Atomic. He won in 2022 and swept the two-day event in 2018.
The event will also be the final time Ohio race fans can see the World of Outlaws Late Models in the “Buckeye State” this year.
