Live & Local Stock Car Racing Set For Friday Evening At Utica-Rome Speedway

Story By: CHRIS MOORE / UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY – VERNON, NY – The 2024 season at Utica-Rome Speedway resumes this Friday, July 26 for a return to weekly racing action.
Charles Tibbitts Masonry and Stretch’s Lawncare & Landscaping present the full card of racing this coming Friday.
The 3 Bastards Brewing Modifieds headline the final Friday of the month of July for another 30-lap main event.
Savannah, N.Y.’s Matt Sheppard heads the modified class with eight wins this season including a $6,100 triumph last Thursday, July 18 with the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco in town.
Sheppard boasts a 66-point advantage over Covington Township, Pa.’s Alex Yankowski.
The Taylor’s Trailers LLC Crate 602 Sportsman, Next Generation Graphix Pro Stocks, Fastline Performance Limited Sportsman, and Fonda Fair Four Cylinders all continue their ’24 title chase as well.
The All-Star and Junior Slingshots are also on the Friday night docket on the inner oval.
Brian Calabrese (Crate 602 Sportsman), Luke Horning (Pro Stocks), Andrew MacFadden (Limited Sportsman), Rudy King Jr. (Four Cylinder DOHC) and Wayne Russell Jr. (Four Cylinder SOHC) were all the most recent winners on the half-mile oval.
Brett Putnam (All-Star Slingshots) and Addisyn Roger (Junior Slingshots) were the most recent winners in Slingshot action.
Gates open at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 6:45 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $15 for Adults, $13 for Seniors (ages 65 and up), and Kids 11 and under are admitted FREE.
Pit admission is $40 (Non-Members), $35 (Members), $10 Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 Children (ages 5 and under).
