Column By: MIKE TRAVERSE / RPW – WEST LEBANON, NY – Andy Bachetti drove into the Lebanon Valley 358 Small Block Modified Victory Lane for the 6th time this season as he passed Michael Sabia with 5 laps to go to take the win.

“Everybody was fast tonight. But it is what it is and we’re sitting in Victory Lane tonight,” Bachetti said.
Sabia had led from the drop of the green and he looked like he could have possibly got the win. But Bachetti is a tenacious racer and once he moved into 2nd, he quickly caught Sabia to take the win in the non-stop 24 lap race.
The car was definitely fast. It’s been fast all year. We just got to go back to the drawing board with our Big Block,” the Wild Child said.

Sabia finished 2nd with Jeff Watson 3rd, Ryan Larkin 4th and Joey Coppola 5th. Jason Herrington was 6th, Kyle Sheldon 7th, Danny Travaglin 8th, Brett Haas 9th and Lorne Browe 10th.

In a very fine and competitive Pro Stock race, Shawn Perez joined his father, Shawn Perez Sr., as a 2024 Pro Stock winner.

Perez Jr. cleared Rick Duzlak for the lead after 3 laps of the 20 lap event. But he was hounded by his competitors the whole race. Duzlak had several good looks at possibly retaking the lead and Tommy Dean and Zachary Sorrentino were also in the picture. But Perez Jr. held it together to grab his first ever LVS Pro Stock win.

“With one to go, I was driving so hard,” Perez Jr. said. “The car felt terrible until now. The car wasn’t good in the heat race, but my crew and my dad made it happen.”

Dean finished a close 2nd with Sorrentino 3rd, Duzlak 4th and Shawn Perez 5th.

Completing the top 10 were Nick Hill 6th, Rocco Procopio 7th, Brian Keough 8th, Dave Kokindo 9th and Tom O’Connor 10th.

It did not look promising for Tim Hartman Jr. to get his 10th DIRTcar Sportsman win of the season. A 6 car pileup on the original start of the race involved the multi time 2024 winner.

Although his car suffered some damage, Hartman was able to roar back through the field to grab that amazing 10th win of the season.

“After lap one, I didn’t think we were going to get it,” Hartman said. “But the car was rolling and it looks like the axle and the shock are a little bent. But somehow, it made the car feel a little better. It was on rails there. Unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable.”

Hartman recovered quickly and by lap 5, he was back into the lead drawing away. At the finish, Hartman was a winner with a 3.8 seconds margin of victory over Michael Sabia, who recorded two runner-up finishes on the night.

Cody Bleau finished 3rd, Nick Giardini 4th and Anthony Maxon 5th.

Peter Lorenzo III was 6th, Brady Cordova 7th, Justin Gozzi 8th, Alex Palmer Sawyer 9th and Alex Bell 10th.

Owen Lewis won his first ever Limited Sportsman win on Saturday and he looked to be the happiest winner of the night in Victory Lane.

“I’ve been waiting for this all year,” said the smiling Lewis. “I’m so thankful for everyone who helps out. I’m so glad to get one and we’re going to get a couple of more.”

Colby Kokosa finished 2nd, John Santolin 3rd, Dylan Holmes 4th and Mike Bosco 5th.

Scott Zehnacker was 6th, Garrett Biagiarelli 7th, Chris Humes 8th, Shawn Johannessen 9th and Kent Clark 10th.

It was the father chasing the son in the Super Street Stock feature. David Streibel took the win over David Streibel Sr.

“I kept looking back and I saw the white nose of a car,” Streibel Jr. said. I was hoping it was him. The car felt great, I could run any line. It was on a rail.”

Jeff Meltz finished 3rd with Evan Denue 4th and Lou Gancarz 5th. Rounding out the top 10 were Peter Huntoon 6th, Doug Sterling 7th, Franklin Smith 8th, Kevin Barrett 9th and Kyle Burl 10th.

Next up at Lebanon Valley Speedway is Saturday, July 26th. LVS will be Celebrating All of Our Local Heroes! The First Responders! All First Responders Get in The Stands For FREE! Brought to you by NBT Bank.
