RPW Exclusive: OCFS Transplant Jared LaBagh Adjusting Well; Scores Sportsman Win At Grandview Saturday

Column By: TOM WENNER / RPW – BECHTELSVILLE, PA – Orange County Fair Speedway is running specials only schedule this season. The well-publicized reduction in weekly racing action has forced many of the track regulars to look for alternative racing venues to continue their racing in ’24.

Jared LaBagh is one of them.

LaBagh is a well-known 602 Sportsman competitor and is not afraid to travel. He’s been making the weekly tow from Middletown, NY to Bechtelsville, PA for 602 Sportsman competition and has been super competitive right from the time he unloaded in the Grandview Speedway pit area.

Last week, LaBagh led laps in the Firecracker 40, and he has been fast and several appearances so far in PA. On Saturday night, Jared pulled it together and drove off to a 1st career Grandview Speedway checkered flag.

Rookie Brayden Shelton and Colton Perry led the T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman to the green flag on Saturday Night.

Shelton would grab the race lead at the start as Perry, Ronnie Soloman, Kaitlyn Bailey, Teague Miller, Gavyn Krupp, and Jared LaBagh chased.

With 3 down, The rookie 602 Sportsman competitor Brayden Shelton set the pace. Perry, Miller and Soloman are side for 3rd, LaBagh, Bailey, and Krupp.

The race clicks off 5 down, and Shelton is in race control. Perry, Soloman, Miller, and LaBagh are in the Top-5.

The race was all green and 7 were down, Shelton continued his impressive run out front. Perry, Soloman, LaBagh, Miller and Krupp are chasing.

Brayden Shelton continues to lead at lap 10 as NY racer Jared LaBagh is coming through the field, Perry, Soloman, and Miller are the Top-5.

Dan’s Deli Halfway Leader Bonus goes to Brayden Shelton, Jared LaBagh is closing in on the race leader, Perry, Soloman, and Miller are the Top-5.

Lap 14, Jared LaBagh makes the move of the race going to the topside of the speedway to sweep around Brayden Shelton for the lead. Perry, Soloman are in 3rd and 4th, Gavyn Krupp is now assaulting Teague Miller for 5th.

Lap 15 and LaBagh begins to stretch his legs our front. Shelton, Perry, Soloman, and Miller and Krupp battle for the 5th spot.

The 1st caution of the race appears on lap 16 for Adrianna Delliponti in the 23XA, Adrianna is slow in Turn 4. Mike Stofflet pits. The field is reset after 16 laps of green flag action. Jared LaBagh is your race leader, Shelton, Perry, Soloman, Miller, Krupp, Bailey, Dylan Swinehart, Brett Grim, Jesse Landis, TJ Mayberry, Brett Gilmore, Zane Roth, Joey Vaccaro, and Logan Watt. Delliponti and Stofflet return and rejoin the field.

We are back racing and Jared LaBagh powers to the Sportsman race lead. Lap 20 is scored and LaBagh is powering ahead out front, Brayden Shelton continues in 2nd, Ronnie Soloman 3rd, Teague Miller 4th, Dylan Swinehart 5th in Decker’s 83, Gayn Krupp and Jesse Landis are side by side for 6th.

Lap 23 and the 2nd caution of the race is displayed for Mike Stofflet and Zane Roth who make contact and stop on the backstretch. Joey Vaccaro heads to the pit area. Both Stofflet and Roth pit for service.

This yellow sets up an epic finish for the T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman. Jared LaBagh remains in race control, Rookie Brayden Shelton is 2nd, Ronnie Soloman 3rd, Teague Miller 4th, Dylan Swinehart 14th to 5th, Gavyn Krupp 6th, TJ Mayberry 7th, Jesse Landis 8th, Brett Grim 9th, Colton Perry 10th, Point Leader Logan Watt 11th, Watt has driven 20th to 11th.

We go back to green, and Jared LaBagh takes control of the race again, Shelton, Soloman, Swinehart, and Miller follow.

Rookie Brayden Shelton scores an impressive 2nd, Ronnie Soloman 3rd, Dylan Swinehart 14th to 4th, Gavyn Krupp 5th, TJ Mayberry 6th, Teague Miller 7th, Jesse Landis 8th, Brett Grim 9th, and Addison Meitzler 10th.
