Column By: MIKE WARREN / DIRTCAR – BREWERTON, NY – For the first time in 2024, the top Pro Stock drivers in the Northeast head to Central, NY.
The DIRTcar Pro Stock Series returns to action on Monday, Aug. 12, joining the Super DIRTcar Series at Brewerton Speedway during night one of SummerFAST.
Drivers will battle in a 30-lap Feature paying $1,000-to-win.
Here’s a look at What to Watch for at Brewerton:
A Pair of 2’s: In 2024, two drivers won the first two DIRTcar Pro Stock Series races, each driving a No. 2.
Series points leader Brandon Emigh opened the season with a win at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in May, while Pete Stefanski scored his 28th career Series triumph at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park in July.
Emigh holds a 10-point lead on Stefanski entering Brewerton.
Out of the top two drivers, Stefanski is the only driver with a Series start at the “D-Shaped Dirt Demon,” finishing second.
Luke’s Chance to Rebound: Defending Series champion Luke Horning hasn’t had the start he hoped for in 2024, with two finishes outside the top 10. However, he was in the top five at one point in both events before a crash at Albany-Saratoga and a penalty at Glen Ridge.
The Gloversville, NY driver is the defending winner at Brewerton and aims for his seventh career Series win. He enters the weekend 14th in points, 64 points behind Emigh.
Capital Region Flare: Along with Emigh, four of the top five drivers in the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series standings are from New York’s Capital Region.
Devon Camenga, Beau Ballard, and Jason Casey have all found success so far this season, finding Victory Lane multiple times at their home tracks. Ballard and Casey each have two wins at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, while Camenga has three wins at Utica-Rome Speedway.
All three drivers finished in the top 10 in both events, while Camenga and Ballard haven’t finished outside the top five.
