DIRTcar Penalty Report: Competitor Cedric Gauvreau Suspended For One Year

Story By: DIRTCAR – WEEDSPORT, NY – DIRTcar Northeast officials have issued a suspension to Sportsman driver Cedric Gauvreau following post-race tech after an event at Devils Bowl Speedway on Sunday, Aug. 18.

The DIRTcar sealed GM Crate Engine in Gauvreau’s Sportsman was sent to an authorized DIRTcar and sealing center on Monday, Aug. 19. Upon initial technical evaluations, the motor did not conform to standard GM and DIRTcar specs. DIRTcar officials then deemed the engine to go through a further technical inspection process, which the race team refused.

Due to the violation, Gauvreau has been suspended from all DIRTcar divisions, tracks and events for one year, effective Aug. 19.

The DIRTcar Sportsman rules on engines are as follows:

Chapter 1 Section 7 Penalties and Fine Schedules

  1. In the event of any illegal internal modification to any W16 Engine, DC18 engine, and/or DIRTcar GM Spec Engine and/or tampering of any manufacturer and/or DIRTcar seal will result in the following penalties.

Penalty / Fine: With refusal of technical inspection:

  1. One year suspension from all DIRTcar divisions, tracks and/or events effective immediately (8/19/2024)
