Story By: KENNY SHUPP / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – For weekly drivers at the Outlaw Speedway the point battles will all come down to the line on Friday, August 30 with the Annual Season Championship Night where Double Points can be a big game changer.
“For the past nine years since I purchased this place, I have always ended the regular point season with a double point finale. For the fans it creates a lot of excitement, but it puts a lot of pressure on the drivers because they know there is a lot on the line. I pay darn good money to win the Track Championships in all the regular classes including $10,000 which goes to the Modified Champion. The bragging rights and the huge trophy that goes along with winning a title is nice, but a big check pays a lot of bills.” That is according to Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri.
The current Modified point leader heading into the Double Point Finale is Alex Payne.
The Sunrise Insulation/Knapp and Schlappi Lumber Crate Sportsman overall top point getter receives $2,000 for their efforts. Daryl Krebs holds a very slight advantage heading into August 30.
The Swarthout Recycling Street Stock Champion walks away with a check for $2,000. Veteran Gene Sharpsteen is at the top of the heap heading into the Double Point Finale.
The Addison, Corning, Hornell and Wellsville NAPA Hobby Stock winner walks away with $2,000. In his first full season as an Outlaw Speedway regular competitor, Jeredd Dennis holds a slim advantage heading into the August 30 event.
Last but certainly not least the Winners Circle Deli 4 Cylinder Mini Stock Track Champion will receive $2,000. Former Track Champion Jason Smart currently sits atop the points.
Fritz Masonry is the headline sponsor of the Youth Bandit Division which is a starter class for up-and-coming talented boys and girls. However, to keep their sports eligibility intact and not jeopardize their amateur status the kids all receive trophies and no cash.
All monies for not only the track champions but all the other top point finishers will be distributed at the 9th Annual Outlaw Speedway Awards Banquet with a date yet to be determined.
With the point battles at a fever pitch not one class has a driver that has already clinched their respective division and in most cases anyone in the top five or even deeper has a shot if the cards fall right.
The first green flag waves at 7:30 pm.
