Story By: PHIL ALLAWAY / LEBANON VALLEY SPEEDWAY – WEST LEBANON, NY – The first weekend of August at Lebanon Valley Speedway is a completely different animal as compared to normal weekends. The regular racing takes the week off so that much larger vehicles can take precedence.
In the past, Lebanon Valley Speedway would host Monster Jam for three days in the middle of the week. Unfortunately, Monster Jam is centered around football stadiums for their outdoor races these days and as nice as Lebanon Valley is, it is not a football stadium.
In addition, the amount of work necessary to hold such a program mid-week was substantial. Setup would have to start as soon as the previous Saturday night’s regular racing card ended in order to be ready for the first show. That would mean all-nighters for everyone involved. Having Monster Trucks on a weekend gives the setup people more time to work and create an engaging layout.
Lebanon Valley Speedway is partnering with Never Lift Motorsports this weekend for the Monsters N Megas. There will be two nights of competition (Friday and Saturday) where the Monster Trucks will do battle with the Mega Mud Trucks.
In addition to the main draw, there will also be Tuff Truck competitions on a short course on the frontstretch.
On both nights, the schedule will be as follows. The front gate and the pit gate will open at 4 p.m. ET. There will be a Pit Party that runs from 4 – 6:15 p.m. ET. At 6:15 p.m. ET, the pits will be cleared. The Tuff Truck racing will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET. Once that is complete, the Monsters and Megas will begin.
There will be racing and freestyle competitions for the pleasure of our guests. The goal of both nights is to answer a simple question. Which trucks are better? The Monster Trucks, or the Megas?
Tickets are available for both nights at LebanonValley.com. All tickets are reserved seating. Tickets in the Blue and Black grandstands are $25, $20 in the Orange grandstand and $10 in the Red and Yellow grandstands. Tower tickets are $50 each. If you buy online, there will be a $1.50 fee attached to each ticket. The box office at Lebanon Valley Speedway will be open both Friday and Saturday for at-track purchases.
Looking ahead, Aug. 10 is Sheldon Oil Night at Lebanon Valley. There will be backpack giveaways for kids from Kindergarten to 6th Grade. There will be a raffle at 7 p.m. ET on the 10th that your child must be present for on the Midway behind the grandstands in order to be eligible to win. The backpacks will be provided by the track and by the individual teams.
Finally, Aug. 17 is Halloween in August. Kids and parents are encouraged to come to Lebanon Valley in costume. Prior to the beginning of the racing card, all of the teams will bring their cars out onto the frontstretch for a meet and greet. Kids can trick-or-treat, get autographs of their favorite drivers and just have a great time. There is plenty of fun to be had.
Tickets for the regular race nights remain at $12 for Adult General Admission tickets, while kids seats are $2. Reserved grandstand seats are $14 regardless of age, while Tower and Rooftop tickets are $20. All tickets bought online with the exception of Child GA tickets have a $1.50 fee attached. Child GA tickets have a $1 fee. Tickets bought at the box office do not have the fees.
It will be a busy couple of weeks at Lebanon Valley. Come on out, take in the action and bring some friends as well. Hope to see you there.
