Story By: BRAD STRAWSER / PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY – PORT ROYAL, PA – The anticipation is building as Port Royal Speedway prepares to host one of the biggest racing weekends of the season, “The Rumble by The River.”
This two-day event, set for Friday and Saturday, promises to deliver intense dirt track racing action, featuring some of the most competitive drivers in the country.
Friday Night, August 25th:
The weekend kicks off with a thrilling lineup headlined by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, where some of the best late model drivers in the country will battle it out for a hefty $10,000 winner’s prize. The series will compete in a 40-lap A-main event to see who comes out on top in night 1 competition.
Adding to the excitement, the Zimmerman Truck Repair Limited Late Models will compete in the 2nd Annual Ron Zimmerman Tribute Race, where drivers will race for a $6,000 winner’s check as part of a $17,000 total purse. Not only is this one of the highest paying winner’s share for the series at Port Royal Speedway, there are also many other contingency prizes up for teams to win like the Fast Qualifier award, Warrior Award, Longest Tow award, and heat race winning money.
Rounding out the night, the Mid-Atlantic Modifieds will take to the track, vying for a $1,500 payday. They are also bringing in a handful of contingency prizes for teams such as a fast time award, a hard luck award courtesy of Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown, and a hard charger. These versatile and aggressive machines are sure to put on a show, making Friday night a can’t-miss event.
Saturday Night, August 26th:
Saturday’s action will be headlined once again by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, with a staggering $50,000 on the line for the winner. Teams will face 50 laps around The Speed Palace to claim the winner’s check.
The Mid-Atlantic Modifieds return on Saturday, with the stakes raised even higher as they compete for a $10,000 winner’s purse. The event will also be $300 to start for all teams competing, there will be another Hard Luck Award courtesy of Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown, and the series will be awarding Warrior Awards of $100 to 3 drivers who finish between the positions 11-24th. With such a significant payout on the line, the competition will be fiercer than ever, ensuring a thrilling conclusion to the weekend’s racing festivities.
The Modified event was able to increase their payout by a significant margin thanks to support from businesses like RBS Truck Collision, RBS Trailers, Viper Risk Management, Ernie D’s, and Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown.
If fans are looking to purchase a reserved seat to the Saturday portion of the weekend, they must go to portroyalspeedway.com to secure their seat. There is not an option to purchase a reserved seat on the day of the event.
