Story By: BRIAN WALKER / HIGH LIMIT RACING – ELMA, WA – The High Rollers vs. the locals provided one of those moments you’ll never forget on Wednesday night when Kubota High Limit Racing debuted at Grays Harbor Raceway.
Puyallup, Washington’s own Trey Starks, who lives only an hour away from Elma, earned the biggest win of his career – leading all 30 laps aboard his family-owned #55X and held off Tyler Courtney and Brad Sweet to claim his first-career Kubota High Limit Racing victory in his first-ever start with the series.
The 28-year-old racer has made 100+ World of Outlaws starts, won two All Star Circuit of Champions events, and even topped a Knoxville Nationals preliminary, but he said nothing compared to the feeling of a national victory with High Limit Racing in his family-owned ride with his father he idolized, newborn baby, Rowan, and wife, Ally, all in victory lane with him at their home track,
Starks rolled from the pole after winning BR Motorsports Heat 3 and then topping the FK Rod Ends Dash. He paced Cole Macedo for the opening half of the Kubota A-Main and things did get close at times with the assistance of lap traffic. Things were most in jeopardy on the final green-white-checkered restart when Courtney was hot on the heels of Starks, but simply unable to overtake the #55X.
Starks survived when it was all said and done to cash a $12,000 victory with Kubota High Limit Racing, and giving him all the momentum in “The Evergreen State” before the $102,626.26-to-win Skagit Nationals run from Thursday-Saturday.
Tyler Courtney and the Clauson-Marshall Racing, NOS Energy Drink #7BC followed Starks to the line, finishing second-from-fifth and gaining a few points in the Kubota High Limit Racing championship battle.
Brad Sweet rounded out the podium in the Kasey Kahne Racing, NAPA Auto Parts #49 – advancing from eighth-to-third to keep his championship consistency alive.
Rounding out the top-10 was Jacob Allen, Cole Macedo, Spencer Bayston, Rico Abreu, James McFadden, Justin Sanders, and Cory Eliason.
