Information By: HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY – PORT COLBORNE, ONT – “Money” Mat Williamson would start 11th on the grid and would drive on to score the 358 Modified win on Nostalgia Night at the Humberstone Speedway Sunday night.
Brad Rouse from Fort Erie, Ontario won the Race of Champions Dirt 602 Sportsman Series event. “The Crazy Alien” Pete Reid from Stevensville, Ontario won the GR Enviro Rail Street Stock feature. Mason Anderson from St. Catharines, Ontario won the Bosch Car Service Mini Stock feature. Tyler Winger from Ridgeway, Ontario won the Tender Cut Meats Mod Lite feature. Doug “Flash” Gordon won the Vintage Car feature. Corr/Pak Merchandising and Tammy 10 Media presented the racing action.
Luke Carleton and Jacob Dykstra led the 358 Modifieds to the green flag for their 40-lap feature, with Carleton in the lead. The caution would come out as Dave Flannigan and Gary Lindberg got together in turn one. On the restart, Luke would continue to lead, as Fred Carleton moved to second place. Mat Williamson would start 11th on the grid and by lap nine, would take over second place. Gary Lindberg would recover from the lap one spin to move up to eighth on lap 10. Williamson would take over the lead on lap 12, as Chad Brachmann would battle with Carleton for second place. Lindberg would work his way to fourth place at the halfway point, and then on lap 29 would take over third place. Lindberg would then take over second with five laps remaining. The caution would come out on lap 37 as Darrell Farraway spun on the front straightaway, erasing an over six second lead over the field. Williamson would hold off Lindberg to win his second race in Niagara in 2024.
Noah Mamo and Brad Rouse brought the Race of Champions Dirt 602 Sportsman Series to the green flag for their feature event, with Rouse quickly taking over the lead with Billy Bleich Jr taking over second place. James Michael Friesen would quickly move into the top three as the first caution came out on lap six. Friesen would take over second on lap seven, as Rouse started to pull away from the field. Friesen would take the lead away on lap 14, with Rouse regaining the lead on lap 15. Scott Wood would pass Friesen to move into the runner up spot on lap 16. Rouse would hold off Wood and Friesen to score the feature win.
Pete Reid and Zach Bleich were on the front row for the GR Enviro Rail Street Stocks feature, with Reid in the lead, with Tyler French and Dave Bailey racing in the top three. Jason Fontaine would battle with Bailey for several laps for third place and would take over the position on lap 11. French would close in on Reid, and the top two would pull away from the field. Reid would hold off French to score the feature win.
John Lubeck and Rob Goulding were on the front row for the Bosch Car Service Mini Stock feature event, with Goulding in the lead ahead of Kenny Hair, and Nathan Joyner. Mason Anderson would take over third and then passed Hair for second place. After a lap six restart, Gouidng, Anderson, Josh Dmytrow, and Jeremy Cooper pulled away from the field. Anderson would take over the lead with five laps remaining. Anderson would hold on to score the win.
Tyler Winger and Brent Begolo led the Tender Cuts Mod Lites to the green flag for their feature event, with Winger in the lead. Cheeseburger Iftody would take third away ahead of Cohen Corbett and Ryan Anderson. Winger encountered lap traffic on lap 11 but had plenty of distance between himself and the balance of the field. Ryan Anderson would catch Begolo in lap traffic and would battle for second, with Begolo edging out Anderson at the line. Winger would lead all 20-laps to score his second win of the season at Humberstone.
Tim Natolino and Doug Gordon brought the Vintage Cars to life for their main event, with Gordon out to the lead. Rob Pietz would move up to fourth, and then would challenge Jipp Ortiz for third place. Pietz would take over second on lap three and would battle for the lead. Pietz would go over the edge in one and two, giving the win to Gordon.
The next scheduled event is the Flat Track Canada Nationals on Saturday, September 21.
Humberstone Speedway will return to action on Friday October 4 and Saturday October 5 for the Fall Classic. Friday’s racing action will feature the Southern Ontario Sprints, Crate Sprints, Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Mod Lites. Saturday’s program will feature the Southern Ontario Sprints, Crate Sprints, 358 Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Mod Lites. Time and admission pricing will be released in the coming weeks.
