Story By: BEN SHELTON / COMP CAMS SUPER DIRT SERIES – COLUMBUS, MO – Morgan Bagley was the fifth-and-final leader in Sunday night’s COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model event at Magnolia Motor Speedway.
Bagley powered around David Breazeale on the 25th circuit and paced the remainder of the 40-lap affair to collect his second CCSDS victory of the season.
I just snuck up there, stuck to my gameplan,” Bagley said in Victory Lane. “It worked out once before for me here. It’s been a long time, but … we’ve been working, we’ve been staying after it.”
Jeremy Shaw and Neil Baggett brought the field to the green flag with Baggett leading the first circuit before Shaw slipped past to lead lap 2.
By the third revolution It was Baggett back in front, and he paced the field until lap 7 when third-starting Ashton Winger took his turn for the point.
With the top spot being a popular piece of real estate Winger found himself under fire from fifth-starting David Breazeale as the duo exchanged multiple sliders that included some contact. Breazeale grabbed the lead on lap 15 while Winger ultimately retired from the event with nosepiece damage acquired from the hard racing with Breazeale.
David Breazeale led the way until ninth-starting Morgan Bagley charged to the lead on lap 25. The Texas racer held the lead for the remainder of the event taking the victory by 1.326 seconds over Sam Seawright, 14th-starting Brian Rickman, Jeremy Shaw, and 11th-starting Kyle Beard.
The win as Bagley’s eighth-career CCSDS triumph.
Rickman received the MD3 Five Star Bodies Hard Charger Award for advancing from 14th to third.
The series now takes a one-week break before rolling into Two Dollar Pistol Motor Speedway (Plumerville, Ark.) on Friday, September 13 and Arrowhead Speedway (Colcord, Okla.) on Saturday, September 14. Both events post a $5,000 winner’s check.
