Column By: MIKE WARREN / DIRTCAR – BROCKVILLE, ONT – With Super DIRT Week 52 complete, the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series returns to action this weekend for its final race of 2024.

The Series makes its only stop in Canada at Brockville Ontario Speedway in Brockville, ON, for Fall Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Drivers will battle in a 100-lap Feature paying $10,000 to win (Canadian).

Entering Fall Nationals, four different drivers have earned DIRTcar 358 Modified Series victories this season with a chance for a fifth different winner this weekend.

Here’s a look at What to Watch for at Brockville:

And Then There Were Two: Entering Saturday’s 100-lap Feature, only two drivers are mathematically eligible to win the 2024 championship.

Felix Roy leads Lance Willix by 16 points heading into this weekend. Roy scored an eighth-place finish at Oswego, while Willix finished 16th.

If Felix Roy finishes seventh or better, the Napierville, QC driver will be the 2024 DIRTcar 358 Modified Series Champion. If Roy finishes eighth and Willix wins, Willix will win the tiebreaker due to having more victories.

“Hollywood” has made two 358-Modified starts at “The BOS,” finishing 23rd in 2022 and 17th last year. However, he finished sixth when the Super DIRTcar Series visited the track last month.

Willix, meanwhile, has made 11 358 Modified Series starts at Brockville, his best finish a fifth in 2022.

Money Mat’s Streak: As Roy and Willix battle for the title, Mat Williamson gained momentum for the weekend after his second consecutive Salute to the Troops 150 victory at Oswego. The reigning Series champion returns this weekend aiming for the $10,000 prize he missed out on by one spot last season.

Williamson has seven consecutive top 10 finishes at the track between 358 Modified Series and Super DIRTcar Series starts, including five top fives. He also scored a Fall Nationals win in 2018.

A win this weekend would be the St. Catharines, ON driver’s 16th career Series win, tying David Hebert for eighth all-time.

Strong at the BOS: Like many tracks across the Northeast, Brockville has a strong contingent of home track regulars aiming to defend home turf.

Ryan Arbuthnot won the Brockville track championship in 2024, earning four wins, eight top fives, and 10 top 10s in 10 Features.

The Renfrew, ON driver was one of three drivers who had multiple wins at Brockville this season, joining Danny O’Brien and Kyle Dingwall, who had two.

Dingwall and O’Brien have already reached DIRTcar 358 Modified Series Victory Lane in their careers. Dingwall earned his win at Brockville in 2016, while O’Brien is a 10-time Series Feature winner who last won a Series race at Brockville in 2016.

A win by O’Brien would be his 11th Series win, breaking a tie with Kenny Tremont, Pete Bicknell, and Steve Bernard for 12th all-time.
