Story By: BRETT DEYO / BROOKFIELD SPEEDWAY – BROOKFIELD, NY – Clean sweep. David Hackett Jr. not only won Saturday afternoon’s ‘Spooktacular Saturday’ Scenic View Campground Crate 602 Sportsman event at Brookfield Speedway, he also secured the 2024 divisional championship at the Madison County Fairgrounds.
The Baldwinsville, N.Y., driver earned $900 for his wire-to-wire 25-lap run, including the $200 bonus posted by Abrams Press.
Hackett picked the pole following the redraw and took full advantage of the front row starting berth.
He led comfortably and survived the race’s only caution on lap 13 to take the win.
Butchie Irwin, the most recent Brookfield winner, finished second after trading the position early with Jonathan Feagles, who later spun.
Todd Titus made his Brookfield debut and finished third, ahead of Tim Falter and Fred Christ, another first-timer at the historic bullring.
Waterville, N.Y.’s George Cushman won the White’s Welding 20-lap Pro Stock feature, his first-ever in the division. Cushman held off one of the division’s best in Kenny Gates for the $500 victory.
Gates stalked Cushman for the entire distance but could not make the pass, settling for a runner-up finish. Second place was enough for Gates to take the championship.
Ken Griffin, Andy Graves and Ray Richer completed the front five.
Ali Scutt held off the relentless advances of Anthony DeSimone to win the 20-lap 600 Modified feature. DeSimone pressured Scutt at various points throughout the main, but Scutt did not falter, putting her name on the speedway’s win list.
DeSimone and Brenton Payne completed the podium in the division’s second appearance of 2024.
Sullivan Dickey took the win and the championship in the 15-lap Abrams Press Allstar Slingshot main event. Dickey led from start to finish.
Addisyn Roger, like Dickey, took the battle and the war in the Abrams Press Junior Slingshot 12-lap event.
Kamrin Krause was the overall winner of the Anderson Towing & Recovery 15-lap Four Cylinder after sweeping around Jeff Weeks for the win. The Single Cam winner was Steve Burka. Both drivers received $100 courtesy of Abrams Press.
Prior to the start of racing, kids in costume were invited into the pit area to trick or treat.
The event concluded the 2024 schedule of events for Brookfield Speedway. Management announced a Memorial Day Weekend 2025 Opening Day.
