Story By: MATT SKIPPER / WORLD OF OUTLAWS – CONCORD, NC – Chris Madden is back like he never left.
In his first World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models start since May, the Gray Court, SC driver went quickest in SeaFoam Qualifying for Thursday’s World of Outlaws World Finals program with a time of 14.785 seconds.
Madden, piloting a No.44 Team22 Inc. Late Model, is chasing his first win with the “Most Powerful Late Models on the Planet” at The Dirt Track at Charlotte since 2019 in front of his family and a large Carolina fanbase that cheer for him.
“We’re just out here having fun,” Madden said. “It feels good to start off well, it feels good to have fun with it. We’re coming to a place that I love to race at. I got a huge fanbase here, so it’s exciting to be able to go out and get a Quick Time in front of my family and fans that come to support me.”
The highest qualifier of the Series title contenders was Oakwood, IL driver Bobby Pierce, who qualified second to Madden in Group A with a 14.864 lap time. Mooresville, NC driver Nick Hoffman finished eighth in Group B by recording a time of 15.099.
Series points leader Brandon Sheppard has the most work of the three championship drivers as he qualified 12th in Group A with a 15.097.
With rain falling prior to Friday’s World Finals Qualifying session, it has been postponed to Friday afternoon. Thursday’s schedule remains unchanged.
Up Next: The World of Outlaws CASE Late Models return to the racetrack for the second night of the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte on Thursday, Nov. 7. Competitors will rip around the 4/10-mile facility for 35 laps for $15,000 up for grabs.
