Story By: AIRBORNE PARK SPEEDWAY – PLATTSBURGH, NY – Following a successful first year back as the promoters of Airborne Park Speedway, Mike and Alayne Bruno will wrap up the 2024 season at Airborne Park Speedway with one final event, the Night of Champions Banquet.
With a full year of great racing that saw the title fight in all four regular divisions come down to the final night of racing, and more than 30 different feature winners, the bow will be put on 2024 and eyes will turn to 2025.
The Rainbow Banquet Hall in Altona, New York, in conjunction with the Bruno family, will host the season-ending awards ceremony and party this Friday, November 22, beginning at 5:30 and going until midnight. Cocktail hour will begin at 6:00 before a buffet dinner is offered at 7:00. The awards will begin at 8:00.
Track announcer Marty Kelly will host the event as the master of ceremonies, and the top-15 drivers in Moore Recycling Mini Stock points, including Champion Ryan Senecal, will be recognized following the welcome remarks. Then, each division’s rookie of the year will be honored. The 9th State Cannabis Renegade top-15 will then be recognized with Champion Shawn Duquette, followed by a special presentation of the Airborne Park Speedway Dedication Award by the Bruno family.
The second half of the program will begin with the top-15 drivers in J&S Steel Sportsman points, including Champion Donovan Lussier, and the peer-voted sportsmanship awards in each class. Then, the Be Cool Heating, Cooling and Refrigeration 358 Modified top-10 will be recognized, with Mike Mahaney collecting his crown for winning the title.
Capping off the evening will be another special presentation by the Bruno family, the Leon Gonyo Award, which will be awarded to an individual or family who has significant contributions to racing at the Airborne Park Speedway.
Finally, track promoter Mike Bruno will address the room with closing remarks and an update on the state of racing at Airborne Park Speedway and a glimpse into the 2025 season and beyond. The evening will finish up with music and dancing to follow.
Airborne Park Speedway wishes to remind attendees of the dress code that applies to this event. Blue jeans, ripped clothing, sweatshirts and hoodies, sweatpants, sneakers, logos and writing on clothes are all prohibited.
The Rainbow Banquet Hall is located at 47 Woods Falls Road in Altona, New York, just 30 minutes northwest of the Airborne Park Speedway via Interstate 87 and Rte. 190.
