Column By: JOSEPH PHILLIPS / RPW – CENTER LISLE, NY – Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle NY has released its schedule for the 2025 season.
From regular point nights to special shows, the new season’s schedule has something for everyone.
As reported earlier by Race Pro Weekly, DIRTcar 358’s and IMCA will race on alternate weekends. Open Mods, DIRTcar Sportsman, Factory Stock, 600CC Modifieds and 600CC Sprint Cars will run every regular show.
April 5th, 12th, and 26th are open practice for all classes. Now comes the nitty gritty.
April 18th & 19th will be the Jan Corcoran Memorial. Regular points shows start on May 3rd with the IMCA Modified first race of the season and the first Hustlin’ the Highway 600CC Mod event. This series also returns on August 24th and October 2nd.
Hustlin’ the Highway is a traveling series for the 600CC’s that run at Afton Motorsports Park, Brewerton Speedway and Thunder Mountain. A separate point fund is in place for competitors that follow.
May 26th will feature the Super DIRTcar Series’ Dale Planck “ The Natural” Memorial. Planck, a longtime competitor and winner on the Outlaw Mod circuit and DIRT, sadly lost his life last year. Thunder Mountain’s proud to hold this race again in Dales’ honor this coming season.
The ’24 event featured a strong field of Super DIRTcar drivers with Jimmy Phelps coming away victorious followed by Matt Williamson in second and Tim Sears completing the podium.
The CRSA Sprints are scheduled on June 7th and July 19th. The first of those events will feature the 358-Modifieds while the July race will have the IMCA’s as a companion.
The season begins to wind down in the month of August with specials on the 23rd 24th. The 23rd is IMCA Championship night. It is also Throwback Night with Classics on Dirt taking part.
The following evening is the Chad Sindoni Factory Stock Memorial, boasting a $1,500-to-win top prize.
The following Saturday, August 30th, will be the final night of points for all classes.
As the season winds down, two big events will remain before Old Man Winter approaches. The first will be the Decker Memorial on Saturday, October 4th. This event is headlined by a $5,000-to-win feature for the Modifieds plus the Randy Decker Factory Stock event, paying $1,500 to the victor. As stated above, the Hustlin the Highway 600CC Mod Series is also on the card.
Last season’s edition of the event was won by Billy Decker. His Jeremy Smith Racing teammate, Darren Smith, came home in the runner-up spot with Billy VanInwegen rounding out the top three.
The final event of the season takes place on Halloween, October 31st and November 1st with the second annual Monster Bash Weekend. This event will feature Modifieds, Sportsman, IMCA’s plus the Hustlin’ the Highway Series. The inaugural event featured high car counts and a nice fan turnout. The 2025 edition is shaping up to be even bigger.
Last year’s race featured over 200 race cars and upwards of $40,000 in cash and contingencies spread across all classes. Danny Creeden took the checkers in 2024.
This is only a brief summary of what will be a great season of racing on the Mountain in 2025!
