RPW Exclusive: Zach Sobotka’s Shifting His Focus Heading Into The 2025 Racing Season

Column By: ROBERT SYMONDS / RPW – PARISH, NY – Zach Sobotka, a name etched in history with his DIRTcar Sportsman, has announced changes to his racing program for the upcoming 2025 Race Season.
After winning the Stirling Lubricants Sportsman Championship at the Land of Legends Raceway three years-in-a-row in 2024, tying Dave Marcuccilli, Sobotka announced he will be moving towards running a Sprint Car for the 2025 Season.
In addition to the Sprint Car events, the 38 team will also be racing a pick & choose schedule for their Sportsman in 2025.
This past season Sobotka has already proven himself behind the wheel of a 305 Sprint Car at multiple events including a trip to Victory Lane at the Utica Rome Speedway.
In 2025, Sobotka was once again the driver to beat at Canandaigua’s half mile but Zach has claimed checkered flags at other tracks this season as well.
Last year alone, the 24-year-old visited Victory Lane at Brewerton, Devils Bowl, Fulton, and Utica-Rome. For this upcoming season, Zach plans on seeing victory lane a lot more often at more tracks throughout the Northeast.
“We are mainly just going to head to the bigger shows,” Sobotka mentioned on Sunday afternoon. “The plan is to run as much as we can and really go wherever we decide to go to.”
During the 2024 racing campaign, Zach competed in over 52 different events and may push the pedal even further this coming season while racing both the Sportsman and the Sprint Car. You may be asking, what series would Zach be running for the Sprint Car?
“The plan is to run both ESS and CRSA. We could also possibly run a little but of the ASCS 360 Sprint Car Series.”
The change to running Sprint Cars has always been the focus for Zach Sobotka. At the 2024 Land of Legends Raceway banquet, Sobotka mentioned that even as a young race fan he was always watching Sprint Cars and cheering on his favorite driver who was just crowned the 2024 World of Outlaws Champion, David Gravel.
Helping Zach along the way is his dedicated family who have always helped him throughout his racing career and his dedicated sponsors including Steve Stirling of Stirling Lubricants who has been a big sponsor of Zach early on and continues to support the success of the talented driver out of Parish.
