RPW Exclusive: Building Memories: Fayetteville Marksmen Host Lil Rockstars Juicebox / Snackpack Series

Column By: CHARLES WISLER / RPW – FAYETTVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville Marksmen hockey team of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) welcomed a special group of racers to the ice during their game against the Huntsville Havoc on Friday night.
The Lil’ Rockstars division took center stage during both intermissions, thrilling the crowd with two-lap races.
The young racers were all smiles as they sped around the rink in front of the cheering fans.
Unfortunately, the Marksmen were unable to capitalize on the excitement generated by the Lil’ Rockstars. Despite a hard-fought battle, the team fell to the Havoc in a shootout. The Marksmen started slow, falling behind 1-0 early in the first period.
However, they found their footing in the second period, building momentum that carried them through the second and third. The Marksmen fought back to tie the game 3-3 in regulation, sending the contest into overtime.
After a scoreless overtime period, the game went to a six-shot shootout, where the Havoc ultimately prevailed.
Despite the loss, the game was a thrilling one for fans, who were kept on the edge of their seats throughout the night.
The Marksmen showed resilience in battling back from an early deficit, and the Lil’ Rockstars provided an unforgettable intermission spectacle.
