Story By: TIM BALTZ / CAN-AM SPEEDWAY – LAFARGEVILLE, NY – Following a memorable 50th Golden Jubilee season in 2024, Can Am Speedway is back and “The Gloves Are Off” for season number 51, which is right around the corner.
The staff and management have been hard at work preparing the 2025 schedule this off season which is packed full of excitement with familiar series making their return to the speedway.
21 race nights make up this year’s schedule with a pair of weekend events to bookend the year, which will see the Thunder on the 1000 Islands weekend start it off on April 11th and 12th and the season ending weekend, Showdown in September on the 5th and 6th.
The official season opener is set for April 25th with the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modifieds, Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman, Panther Frameworx Crate Sprints, Sundance Leisure Thundercars and Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman divisions. The series returns August 1st during the Summer Sizzler and one final time on September 6th during Showdown in September.

With the annual Ron White Memorial rained out last year, the stars of the class will begin the year with the Ron White Memorial on April 11th and end the season with a second Ron White Memorial on September 6th.
We mentioned the gloves are off this season and they will be off as Can Am Speedway will welcome the Short Track Super Series North Regional Tour for the very first time on Monday August 4th. The event has gained plenty of attention since it was announced on Christmas Day of 2024 and it will be the first time in many years the Modifieds will have sail panels at Can Am. Also the STSS Sportsman North Reginal Series will be on the card, making for an action packed night of racing. The night will also see representatives on hand from the Watertown Boxing Club and a mobile boxing ring will be on hand, which will add some extra excitement to the evening.
For those who enjoy the cars from years gone by, a pair of Vintage Modified Series will be in town with the DIRT Modified Nostalgia Tour on June 20th, while the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club comes to town during Christmas in July on the 18th.
With all this action going on for 2025 there will be plenty to see and do and the staff, management, teams and drivers look forward to seeing all of our loyal race fans this year.
