Story By: KENNY SHUPP / OUTLAW SPEEDWAY – DUNDEE, NY – Like he has done since purchasing Outlaw Speedway ten years ago, track owner Tyler Siri will open the yearly campaign with the running of the Lucas Oil Nationals.

Friday and Saturday, April 4 and 5 will find the popular Dundee, NY speed plant opening for another year of great dirt track racing action.

“Traditionally I like to open early and if the weather cooperates, we can get a good jump on the season, stated Outlaw Speedway’s Tyler Siri. There are very few if any other venues opening in early April within this region, so it gives race teams and fans a place to kick off their seasons after a long winter.”

Several times throughout the year Siri will use a unique two day format where Friday is reserved for practice and front row qualifying for Saturday’s finale and this years Lucas Oil Nationals will be no exception as competitors will hit the Fast 4/10 of a Mile Clay Oval on Friday night, April 4 with ample practice followed by Front Row Dash Qualifiers for Saturday, April 5 main events.

Saturday’s program will find a complete show of qualifying heat and consolation races followed by high paying feature events for all classes that are competing,

Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modifieds will be in action with the feature winner on Saturday walking off with a hefty $4,010.

Knapp and Schlappi Lumber 602 Crate Sportsman will go off for $2,100 to win and the Swarthout Recycling Street Stocks will see the victor pocketing $1,750.

The Addison, Corning, Hornell and Wellsville NAPA Auto Parts Stores Hobby Stocks along with the Winner’s Circle Deli 4 Cylinder Mini Stocks will both compete for $1,010 to win.

Making a rare appearance at Outlaw Speedway will be Hustle the Highway 600 cc Modifieds with the first driver across the line taking home $1,000.

Start time for Friday, April 4 will be 7:00 pm while Saturday’s action will begin much earlier in the day with an anticipated 3:00 pm start.

“This will be a nice and tidy six card show with plenty of practice and Dash Qualifying on Friday and a full-blown show on Saturday. We are expecting a huge turnout to kick off the season so we will start early on Saturday in anticipation of lots of racing at a time of year where nighttime temperatures can still get quite cold.”

The past two seasons the Lucas Oil Nationals Season Opener was lost to adverse weather conditions, consequently Siri, his staff and all competitors are hoping for better weather to get things rolling in 2025.

“This time of year, is always a crap shoot, exclaimed Siri. We have seen snow and cold temperatures in early April and other years it has been in the 70’s. You just never know what you are going to get, but we are fortunate here at Outlaw that our facility drains very well so if we have some decent early April weather, we should be all set to go.”
