RPW Exclusive: Lebanon Valley Hosts Successful Practice Ahead of ’25 Big Block Mod Opener

Column By: DANIEL SANCHEZ / RPW – WEST LEBANON, NY – On Tuesday evening, Lebanon Valley Speedway roared to life as the gates swung open at 3:30 PM for a mid-week practice session.
With the sun shining down on the historic high banks, engines fired up and cars hit the track at 5:30 PM.
A mix of divisions rolled out onto the fresh clay, including 4 Cylinders, Street Stocks, Pro Stocks, Sportsman, Small Block Modifieds, and the mighty Big Block Modifieds. It was a valuable night of tuning and testing, especially as drivers continued to adapt to the track’s newly redesigned, wider configuration.
The revised layout has already sparked conversation in the pits and in the grandstands. Several drivers were seen driving lower than ever before, hugging the inside wall in ways not typically seen at the High Banks. While the line is still being explored and perfected, early signs point to the potential for exciting 3- and 4-wide racing throughout the season.
Fans gathered in the stands for a look and were abuzz with excitement. The energy was high, not just for the shake-down laps, but for what this change might bring to feature racing. Many shared optimistic thoughts about the improved multi-groove potential.
The Lebanon Valley track crew has clearly been working overtime, and their efforts showed. Although the surface still had a bit of early-season “character,” it held together well throughout the evening. The ongoing prep looks promising as we head toward opening night.
That first night of racing is just around the corner. This Saturday, May 3rd, L&M Motors presents the $5,000-to-win Big Block Modified Season Opener. It’s also Kentucky Derby Night in the Clubhouse, adding some southern flair to a night of northeastern dirt racing.
Get ready, race fans — the Valley is awake and 2025 is shaping up to be something special.
