Super Sportsmans Exhilarate In Earman Fulk Memorial At Linda’s; Mother Nature Washes Out Feature

Story By: KASEY KREIDER / LINDA’S SPEEDWAY – JONESTOWN, PA – Friday night at the Linda’s Speedway was slated to be one of the most special in the “Golden Anniversary” season of racing at the Jonestown quarter-mile.

For the first time in the track’s nearly 50-year history, Winged Super Sportsman competitors descended upon the speedway in honor of Earman Fulk – the man that built Linda’s back in 1976 – paying homage to Fulk’s time racing in that division before a career-ending injury shifted his focus to building the Lebanon county speedway.

Under threatening skies all evening, track officials pushed to get as much of the scheduled, six-division card of racing into the books, including the special appearance by the Super Sportsman division – a class which featured nine entries despite the ominous forecast.

The Super Sportsmans first dazzled in hot laps, as Marysville’s John Edkin blazed around the track in 11.674 seconds – a lap time that equates to an average of 77.094 mph around the quarter-mile.

Both eight-lap heat races were able to be contested as well, with Lewisberry’s Scott Dellinger outdueling Shane McConnell to claim victory in the first one, while “The Magic Man” Kenny Edkin chalked up the win of the second.

A complete redraw for the A-Main starting positions put Adam Edkin on pole position with Jay Fannasy to the outside. Fannasy sprinted off to the early advantage and led the first three laps before Mike Enders’ crash on the backstretch brought out the yellow flag.

Under that caution period, the rain that had been in the area – and arrived sooner than anticipated – began to pick up. The cars were taken off the speedway and the remainder of the night’s racing was cancelled. With no available date to bring the Super Sportsmans back to Linda’s in 2025, the field of nine drivers were all paid out, and the feature event will not be made up.

One of Friday night’s scheduled features was able to beat the rain, as the PA Micro Midgets’ 300 division contested their first race at the quarter-mile in 2025. York Haven’s Asher Paxton picked up the win of that 15-lap A-Main event for his first Linda’s Speedway victory.

The scheduled A-Mains for the Hoosier Tire Wingless 600 Micro Sprints, the Xcel 600 Modifieds, and the PA Micro Midgets’ 500 division will all be made up at a later date to be determined. The scheduled A-Main for the East Coast Legends will be made up as part of their next Linda’s Speedway appearance on June 13.

Linda’s Speedway is back in action next Friday, May 2 with another packed lineup of action. The Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 Micro Sprints will have a doubleheader, as their makeup feature from April 4 will be run in addition to another complete show. Both the Hoosier Tire Wingless 600 Micro Sprints and the Stolz Stove Sales Winged 600 Micro Sprints will compete as well.

The Xcel 600 Modifieds and the Junior Sprints will round out the card of racing
