Bluegrass State Doubleheader Up Next For Spring Nationals Series

Story By: RYAN DELPH / SPRING NATIONALS SERIES – BRASSTOWN, NC – The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Coltman Farms Racing and fueled by Sunoco treks to the Bluegrass State on May 9-10 for a big doubleheader weekend.

Up first will be the tour’s inaugural visit to Rockcastle Speedway in Mount Vernon, Kentucky on Friday night, as a $7,553 first place prize will be on the line in the ‘Finn Watson Memorial.’

On Saturday evening, the dirt-slinging action will quickly shift to Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky for the annual running of the ‘Johnny Wheeler Memorial,’ which will boast a $10,053 payday.

Saturday’s stop at Lake Cumberland Speedway will also mark the fifth race that counts towards the coveted Coltman Farms Cup, which will provide extra bonus money and a unique trophy at the end of the year. While the series makes a first visit to Rockcastle this weekend, the Spring Nationals has previously sanctioned one event at Lake Cumberland in 2024. Camaron Marlar picked up the $10,053 winner’s check last year over a top five that included runner-up Josh Rice, Pearson Lee Williams, Jason Jameson and Daulton Wilson.

At Rockcastle Speedway on Friday, the pit gates will swing open at 2:00pm and the grandstands will start to allow patrons into the facility starting at 4:00pm. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:30pm and Hot Laps will get underway at 7:00pm. Grandstand admission will be $25.00 for adults and FREE for kids ages 12 and under. Pit admission will be $45.00 for adults, $20.00 for kids ages 6-12, and FREE for young children ages 5 and under.

Joining the Super Late Models on the ‘Finn Watson Memorial’ racing card will be the Pro Late Models ($1,200 to win), Open Wheel Modifieds ($1,200 to win), Super Stocks ($1,000 to win), and Crown Vics ($500 to win). On Saturday at Lake Cumberland Speedway, grandstand admission will be $30.00 for adults and FREE for kids ages 10 and under. Pit admission will be $45.00 for adults, $20.00 for kids ages 6-10, and FREE for young children ages 5 and under. The pit gates and the grandstands will both open at 2:00pm. The Drivers Meeting will be held at 6:30pm before Hot Laps light up the racetrack at 7:00pm.

Along with the Super Late Models headlining the ‘Johnny Wheeler Memorial,’ other classes in action include the Pro Late Models ($1,200 to win), Open Wheel Modifieds ($1,200 to win), Crown Vics ($400 to win), FWD Ministocks ($400 to win), and Hobby Stocks ($400 to win). The Spring Nationals tire rule in 2025 is Hoosier Racing Tire NLMT 2, 3, 4 and American Racer Tire 44, 48, Pro3/56, Pro4. Body rules and the Droop Rule will be the same as those agreed on by both the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series – among others. The entry fee will be $100.00 each night and transponders will be available to rent. Any driver not advancing into the feature field will receive $75.00 in tow money.
