358-Modifieds Take Over Fonda Wednesday, May 14th

It’s time for a River Rage.  Fonda Speedway, located on the banks of the mighty Mohawk River, welcomes the return of 358-Modifieds on Wednesday, May 14 for the ‘River Rage’ midweek special.

The 358-Modified contingent has not competed at the Track of Champions since September 2018.

Can-Am Speedway rules will be utilized for the event (allowing DIRTcar 358 and CT 525 combinations, Hoosier tires only), with a draw/redraw program in place. Heat races and consolations (8 laps) will set the stage for a 30-lap main event.

“We’ve had countless requests for 358-Modifieds to return to Fonda over the last couple of years,” Fonda Speedway promoter Brett Deyo said. “We’re anticipating a strong field of cars for the first of three 358-Modified events at the Track of Champions this year.

“We’re bringing back the ‘River Rage’ name (longtime Fonda promoter) Ric Lucia utilized years ago to add some nostalgia to this event.”

Swagger Factory Apparel Sportsman will be in competition with a 25-lap, $1,000-to-win program featuring a draw/redraw format. While no track points will be awarded, the event will count toward the year-long American Racer Cup championship battle.

Street Stocks – presented by Online Performance Parts and Stone Motorsports – make their season debut in a 20-lap, $500-to-win program utilizing Albany-Saratoga Speedway rules.

The event will also include Fonda Fair Four Cylinders under an “open” format. Three winners will be declared in the 15-lap main event: $150 to the SCDRA-legal winner, $150 to the Fonda-legal Single Cam winner and $150 to the Fonda-legal Dual Cam winner.

For the May 14 event, gates open at 4 p.m., with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

Adult Grandstand Admission is $18. Seniors (ages 65 and over) pay $16. Kids 11 and under are FREE.

Reserved Infield Drive-In Parking costs $80 and includes four passes.

Pit admission is $40 (Non-Members), $35 (Members) and $10 Kids (Kids 11 and under).
