Jakubiak Wants To Compete For CDRA Title, But Is Time On His Side?

Story By: Rob Hazer – CAPITAL DISTRICT RACING ASSOCIATION – FONDA, NY – Chris Jakubiak stormed to victory at Albany-Saratoga Speedway back on April 18th in the CDRA points opener. That put him in the point lead where he’d like to stay to face the challenges of racing at Glen Ridge and Lebanon Valley, two places he’s never raced before. But with a minimal crew and busy work schedule he will have to see if time permits his championship chase.

After conversation between Ballston Spa, NY racer Chris Jakubiak and JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA competition director Rob Hazer, it was learned he’s never turned laps at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park or Lebanon Valley Speedway to date in his career. Jakubiak will have to balance work, resources, and home life to make all six points paying races.

The CQC Painting, Vertex Property Management, and HD Concrete Construction Inc. series winner has Sunday June 1st circled on his schedule of racing events for his first trip to Glen Ridge when DIRTcar East Sportsman Modified Series comes to Fultonville, NY and again serves as a CDRA Series points paying race. All Jakubiak needs is time to prepare and participate.

So, what if point leader Chris Jakubiak is unable to make the next points paying race due to work commitments? It means there would be a shake up in the point standings, which isn’t new for the CDRA series presented in part by Elmo’s Speed Supply.

St-Denis-sur-Richelieu, QC racer Donovan Lussier currently holds down the runner up spot, however it’s doubtful he’s chasing Capital District titles considering he wasn’t at the great race place the last time they raced at the Malta, NY facility.

Bennington, VT racer Joey Scarborough is an unknown despite currently holding down third in points. Chances are if he rolls into The Ridge on June 1st with his Central Vermont Motorcycles, Quality Property Management, and How Center Auto Brandon Bandit Papi owned Bicknell Racing Chassis, then he’s chasing the crown.

Tim Hartman Jr. likes victory lane so much he’s made a habit of parking his Service Master Restore, Irish Trucking, and Bemiss Trucking Service Mike Parillo owned DKM Cyclone Chassis number 22 there. Already a regular at both Albany-Saratoga and Lebanon Valley, if Hartman races a pair of events at The Ridge his name will be in the title conversation.

Spencertown, NY hot shoe Dylan Madsen holds down the fifth spot in CDRA points currently. He loves to wheel and is capable of capturing a championship, so his peers wait eagerly to see if he shows up to live life on the ridge Sunday.

Some other names to keep an eye on for title town or newcomer of the year are Chris and Connor Crane, Cody Ochs, Taylor Wason, Derrick McGrew Jr., Nick Brundige, and Tavien Blowers. The rest of the drivers currently with points are unknown at this tme.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Points paying race number two Sunday June 1st at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park for CDRA competitors that is also a DIRTcar Sportsman East Series event. We’ve titled this event Quarter Mile Mayhem for 2025.

CDRA is a nostalgic throwback to the CVRA days. A series designed specifically for Capital District racing. Season two schedule consists of a diverse schedule at storied dirt tracks like the great race place, the fastest quarter mile on dirt, and the valley of speed. Drivers who do travel the Capitaland will earn hardware and some green for their efforts.
