Late-Race Pass Helps Mat Williamson Top DIRTcar 358-Modified Field At Ransomville

Story By: STEVEN PETTY / RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY – RANSOMVILLE, NY – Mat Williamson from St. Catharines, Ontario used a late-race pass to win the Krown Undercoating 358 Modified feature on Mark Cerrone Inc night at the Ransomville Speedway.
Brett Senek from Ransomville, NY was victorious in round one of the West Region for the DIRTcar Sportsman Series. Josh Pangrazio from Oakfield, NY won the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stock main event.
Troyer Catalano from Ontario, NY picked up the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman feature win. Tyler Haniszewski brought home the victory in the 3rd Annual Austin Wilson Memorial Demolition Derby presented by DNA Derby Productions.
Kyle Richner and Jesse Cotriss brought the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds to the green flag, with Cotriss showing the way. Cotriss and Richner would battle for the lead, as Susice, Lindberg, Slack, Smith, Williamson all battled for third on back. Richner would take over the lead on lap 14, as Lindberg would take over third from Susice. Linberg to second. While running in second, Lindberg had issues and slowed to the top of turn two to bring out the caution on lap 17. Susice to the lead on the lap 18 with Richner, Williamson, and Rudolph racing in the top four. The caution would come back out on lap 20 as Kyle Richner had a collapsed front end on his ride, ending his strong night. Susice would take off on the restart ahead of Williamson, Brachmann, Slack, and Nelson Mason. With Susice out front, Mat Williamson would reel in Susice, and coming to the white flag, Williamson would grab the lead and would go on to win his third Ransomville triumph of 2025.
Kevin Wills and Brett Senek were on the front row for round one in the Western Region for the DIRTcar Sportsman Series, with Senek taking off into the lead ahead of Jake Bansmer and Cody McPherson. McPherson would pass Bansmer on lap seven to move into second place, The first caution would come out on lap 14 as Jesse Truax spun in turn two. The restart would see Senek and McPherson on the front row, with Senek in the lead. As soon as the leaders exited the second corner, Kevin Wills spun in turn two, causing a 10-car pileup. All drivers that were involved in wreck were ok, with most being able to rejoin the field. The ensuing restart would see Derek Wagner enter the top five as he passed Tuttle for fourth place. The caution would come back out on lap 19 as Matteo Panunte and Trevor Catalano got together on the front straightaway. The restart would see Senek and McPherson pull away as Derek Wagner would challenge Bansmer for third. Senek would hold off McPherson and Wagner to score the win, his fourth career DIRTcar Sportsman Series win at Ransomville, and 18th career Sportsman win.
Alex Morris and Anthony Muscato led the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks to the green flag, with Morris leading lap one and Josh Pangrazio would take over the point just as lap one was concluded. Pangrazio would pull away, but there was a three-car battle between Morris, Mike Welch, and John Zimmerman. After a lap five caution bunched the field up, Pangrazio would take off in the lead as Zimmerman and Welch would battle for second place. Pangrazio would pull away from the field to earn his third win of the season.
Jeffrey Wynes and Ryan Hessler brought the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks to the green flag for their 15-lap main event, with Wynes in the lead. Cole Susice would work his way to second on lap three and would go after Wynes for the lead. Susice would use a lap car to take over the lead on lap six. Susice would pull away from the field and would go on to score the win.
Bubby Pawlak and Jocelyn Just were on the front row for the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman feature, with Pawlak in the lead ahead of Troyer Catalano. Catalano would catch Pawlak for the lead and would battle with four laps to go. Catalano would drive away to pick up his second win of the season.
Next Friday night, June 6, Basil Ford of Niagara Falls presents the Flyin’ Brian and Ray Stevens Memorial for the Krown Undercoating 358 DIRTcar Modifieds. The Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman, KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks, Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks, and the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman will all be in competition.
Pit gates will open at 5pm, grandstands at 6pm, and racing will get underway at 7:15pm.
