The Big Series 2 Now Racing Twice In June At Orange County Fair Speedway

Story By: JOHN SNYDER / ORANGE COUNTY FAIR SPEEDWAY – MIDDLETOWN, NY – When the original May 4 opening race of the 78th consecutive year of stock car racing at Orange County Fair Speedway was lost to inclement weather, it created the opportunity for a pair of June race meets.

High speed action will now begin Sunday, June 8 when Extreme Power Sports presents the 19th Annual Doug Dulgarian’s Nostalgia Night, a true Racing Reunion and a full program of qualifying and feature races for the DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, Tri State Dry Wall & Acoustics Sportsman, and the Mike Traverse Series Street Stock divisions.

On Nostalgia Night, the speedway pits, stands, and unique Drive-In will open at 2:00 pm, Activities surrounding Doug Dulgarian’s 19th Annual Nostalgia Night will open the June 8 program. Nostalgia Night driver autographs will take place between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Race cars will be on the track beginning approximately 5:00 pm. with the evening’s first race taking the green flag at 6:00 pm. Following qualifying, the Modified feature will be held first.

“Each year Doug has dome a fabulous job with Nostalgia Night,” says Big Series 2 co-promoter Brett Hearn. It really is a true Racing Family Reunion, with fans and Orange County former competitors enjoying renewing friendships, telling racing stories, and looking over the historic and tribute older race cars. When I was racing, I always enjoyed this night, even more if I also had a good night on the track.”

On Thursday, June 5, a three-hour, 6:00 pm-9:00 pm “Test and Tune” practice will precede the first race. Pits will open at 3:00 pm. All pit passes are $25. The stand will be open free of charge.

Racing returns on Sunday, June 22 presented by M. Falanga Trucking, with the 30-lap DIRTcar Modified feature race designated “The Joey Falanga Memorial,” honoring a former Orange County competitor who lost his life in a non-racing accident. On June 22, the pits will open at 3:00 pm, the stands and Drive-In at 4:00 pm, cars on the track at 5:00 pm, with racing beginning at 6:00 pm.

On both June race days, General admission Adults $20 stands or Drive-In, Seniors $15, Children 12 and under $5. Party Deck $30 each minimum of two. Pit passes $35. On Nostalgia Night, a poster will be available for fans to collect autographs from their favorite drivers.
