WoO Sprint Car Series Invasion Highlights First Month Of Activity At Cornwall Motor Speedway

Story By: MARTIN BELANGER / CORNWALL MOTOR SPEEDWAY – CORNWALL, ONT – The wait is over! With just 10 days until the 2025 season opener, Cornwall Motor Speedway is gearing up for a thrilling month of racing this May — headlined by the long-awaited return of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.
Practice Session on May 8
The season will unofficially begin with the annual open practice session on Thursday, May 8, starting at 6:30 PM. All dirt divisions are invited to hit the track and get valuable laps ahead of the new season. This event is a fan favorite and a crucial tune-up for race teams.
Opening night on May 11
In a rare Mother’s Day event, Cornwall Motor Speedway will host its official Opening Night on Sunday, May 11, featuring a full program across all five divisions. To celebrate the occasion, all women will receive general admission for just $10. The evening will also feature a special 25-lap Rick Ranch Mini-Stock feature, setting the tone for what promises to be a competitive season. This event gives drivers and staff the chance to dial everything in ahead of the following week’s major show.
World of Outlaws Invasion and Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals on May 18
“They’re back!” After a 10-year hiatus, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to Cornwall and to Canadian soil. Known as The Greatest Show on Dirt, the Outlaws will bring a star-studded field including David Gravel, Logan Schuchart, Carson Macedo, Michael Kofoid, Sheldon Haudenschild, Donny Schatz, Giovanni Scelzi, Bill Balog, Chris Windom, Garet Williamson, and Cole Macedo. Several top drivers from Ohsweken Speedway, along with Quebec standout Jordan Poirier, are expected to challenge the Outlaws in what is shaping up to be a can’t-miss event.
Sharing the spotlight will be the Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals, featuring a 50-lap, $4,000-to-win main event. A strong contingent of invaders is expected, including former NASCAR star Ken Schrader, Mat Williamson, Félix Roy, David Hébert, Steve Bernard, Luke Whitteker, Steve Bernier, Mario Clair, Samuel Charland, Tristan Draper, and many more. They will face off against top local talent such as Carey Terrance, Corey Wheeler, Jackson Gill, Louie Jackson Jr., Ryan Stabler, Joey Ladouceur, Kevin Hamel, Brian McDonald, Kalen Draper, Brianna Ladouceur, Lee Ladouceur, and others.
Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock Special and Eastern Ontario Vintage Club on May 25
The month concludes on Sunday, May 25 with the season with a special Pro-Stock event sponsored by Alexandria Home Hardware, owner Ron Aubin is adding $3,000 in purse and bonus money to the Pro-Stock category on that night, celebrating their 30th year in business, Mr. Aubin wanted to give back to his favorite class. A 30-lap event will be run along with the Eastern Ontario Vintage Club and a complete race program.
