Past Champions Rule First Night Of Summer At Linda’s Speedway

Story By: KASEY KREIDER / LINDA’S SPEEDWAY – JONESTOWN, PA – To be the best, first you have to beat the best. But when contending with former track champions at the famed Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, PA, oftentimes that’s a task much easier said than done.
On Friday night, four former “kings of the quarter-mile” parked their vehicles in victory lane, kicking off an action-packed summer of racing in fine style ahead of some upcoming big events.
For the third time in 2025, the Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 Micro Sprint feature went to two-time and defending champion Brandon Heist, who stretched his points lead for this season up to 33 markers with a dominant triumph.
Heist inherited the outside pole position, and then rocketed past Cory Myers down the
backstretch on the opening lap. Once grabbing the top spot, Heist was unchallenged the rest of the way, leading Myers and former three-time champion Mike Boyer across the finish line.
Two weeks ago, Brian Kramer scored victory in the Wingless 600 makeup feature before
proceeding to junk a frame with a nasty flip in the regular show later that night. On this Friday night at the quarter-mile, Kramer would only have to experience the thrill of victory, as the 2022 Hoosier Tire Winged 600 track champion fended off a mid-race charge from Cody West to claim the win in the second Winged 600 event of 2025.
Friday night also saw a doubleheader of stock car racing action, and the theme of championship pedigree finding the winner’s circle remained true in those divisions as well.
After failing to finish each of the first three Bernheisel Race Components Chargers feature
events due to a variety of accidents and mechanical gremlins, 2012 track champion Josh Michael finally ripped the monkey off his back with a statement win in Friday night’s A-Main. The Jonestown native won the 20-lap feature with a margin of victory of over four seconds ahead of runner-up Eric Hollenbach.
In his return to the driver’s seat in 2025, it only took 2023 GP Motorsports Front Wheel Drive Car champion Rob Pyle two races to accomplish something that he hadn’t done in that title-winning campaign: make a trip to victory lane. To chalk up the win, Pyle had to fight tooth and nail with Scirocco teammates Bill Sherwood and Ken Buck. But after grabbing the lead with nine laps left, Pyle held on through a late red flag and three-lap sprint to the finish to complete the triumph.
Next Friday, June 27, Linda’s Speedway caps off the month with a thrilling four-division show. The Xcel 600 Modifieds will run a doubleheader, with their makeup feature from April 25 in addition to a regular show. The Mt. Gretna Roller Rink 270 Micro Sprints continue their summer of speed, and both the All Star Slingshots and the Hoffer Paving Junior Slingshots will descend upon the quarter-mile.
