Two-In-A-Row For Veterans Butchie Irwin & Kenny Gates At Brookfield Wednesday

Story By: BROOKFIELD SPEEDWAY – BROOKFIELD, NY – Two in a row. Veteran Butchie Irwin recorded his second consecutive Scenic View Campground Sportsman victory on Wednesday night at Brookfield Speedway, earning $700 for his efforts.
The program marked Race No. 2 of a special-events schedule on the Madison County Fairgrounds for 2025.
Irwin won the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Sportsman event on Memorial Day and maintained his perfect record with a wire-to-wire run in Wednesday night’s 25-lap headliner.
The Climax, N.Y., driver started from the pole after a redraw of top heat-race finishers and held off the challenges of David Hackett Jr. and Blaine Klinger, who swapped the runner-up position late in the caution-free race.
Walton, N.Y.’s Klinger – who started sixth – sliced through traffic to claim second. However, he was forced to slow after encountering a slower car and Hackett slipped back past.
Hackett finished second, with Klinger, Matthew Richardson and Dale Welty completing the front five.
Like his Sportsman counterpart Irwin, West Winfield, N.Y.’s Kenny Gates went two-for-two in the Anderson Towing and Recovery Pro Stock division. Gates led all 20 laps and earned $500. Steve Cosselman followed Gates under the checkered flag.
Paul Holic (Allstar) and Blake Banek (Junior) topped the Abrams Press Slingshot combined 15-lap feature.
A wild, caution-filled 20-lap White’s Welding & Custom Cutting Four Cylinder main saw Collin Mills rebound from a flat right-front tire to win the Dual Cam portion, while Jamie Warner was declared the Single Cam winner.
The next event at Brookfield Speedway takes place on Thursday, July 24 with the Scenic View Campground Sportsman, Anderson Towing & Recovery Pro Stocks, Abrams Press Allstar and Junior Slingshots and White’s Welding & Custom Cutting Four Cylinders on the agenda during the Madison County Fair.
