Ammons, Anderson And Ott Score Wins On Stock Car Mayhem Night At Linda’s Speedway

Story By: KASEY KREIDER / LINDA’S SPEEDWAY – JONESTOWN, PA – The biggest stock car show in the 50-year history of the Linda’s Speedway took place on Friday night with the running of “Stock Car Mayhem” presented by GP Motorsports. The night of racing featured $1,000-to-win races for both the Chargers/Thunder Cars as well as the SCDRA Front Wheel Drive Cars. And for the first time in 33 years, Street Stocks made their return to the quarter-mile as part of the George Eash Street Stock Invitational.

The invitation-only Street Stock portion of the show saw 13 Street Stock stars descend upon the quarter-mile in memory of Eash, a Linda’s Speedway “Living Legend” who had passed away earlier in the year. Until just a few weeks before the event, Morgantown, WV’s Jason Ammons wasn’t even supposed to be part of the race. But after another previously invited driver was forced to back out, Ammons slotted into the lineup, and stole the show in Friday night’s 25-lap event.

Fans were left dazzled after an exciting wheel-to-wheel battle between Ammons and Steve Kent during the race’s opening laps. After several laps of side-by-side racing, Kent squeezed back ahead and held onto the advantage until a lap 11 caution flag.

On the restart, Kent made contact with one of the infield yuke tires, eventually causing the left-front suspension on his car to give way. Ammons motored around the No. 81 machine on the high side, and never lost control of the event from that point forward, as his No. 10x motored across the finish line with a 2.658-second margin of victory over Ryan Smith and Bailey Tolson.

In Friday night’s SCDRA Front Wheel Drive Car feature event saw a dominant performance turned in by Chris Anderson, as the driver from Rockhill, PA beat a field of 25 cars with a final margin of victory of 8.528 seconds, more than half-a-track over second-place finisher and Linda’s regular Chris Yob. Shawn Williamson rounded out the podium.

In Friday’s Chargers/Thunder Cars 25-lapper, a familiar face found the Linda’s Speedway winner’s circle, as Carlisle, PA’s Jeremy Ott claimed his second win at the quarter-mile in 2025, besting Kevin Bard and Aaron Updegraff over a one-lap dash to tally the triumph.

The 270 Micro Sprints also competed in a $700-to-win show on Friday night. After coming so close on so many occasions, Berwick’s Brayden Spencer finally snapped a two-year winless drought at the quarter-mile. The No. 27 zipped from ninth up to third in just the first lap, maneuvered past Billy Logeman around halfway, and then made the pass on Richie Hartman in lapped traffic, leading the final six laps on his way to victory.

The Xcel 600 Modified Tour also raced for a $700 prize, and coming out on top in their 25-lap feature was Lebanon’s Tiffany Hitzler, as she fended off her brother Richie Hitzler and a
fast-approaching Bobby Butler to score her first win of 2025.

Linda’s Speedway returns to action on Friday, July 11 with a five-division show. Featured on the racing card will be the Skeet Craft Collision 270 Time Trial Series, the Hoosier Tire Winged 600 Micro Sprints, the Xcel 600 Modifieds, the All Star Slingshots, and the Skeet Craft Collision Junior Sprints.
