Bobby Puckett Scores First Career Win At Penn Can Speedway
Story By: NATHAN ALDRICH / PENN CAN SPEEDWAY – SUSQUEHANNA, PA – Bobby Puckett was glowing in Victory Lane Friday night at the Penn Can Speedway after collecting his first career win. Puckett and Alex Stanton brought the field to green as Puckett worked the cushion to lead the opening lap. A competitive surface kept the pair close through the opening laps while Dennis Clapperton and Justin Holland lurked just behind. Clapperton kept the pressure on Stanton for second peeking to the inside every lap as the race neared half way.
With 17 laps complete Stanton broke free of Clapperton’s grasp, getting alongside Puckett as the pair worked through turns 1 and 2. Stanton’s rough season continued as on lap 20 his machine spun to the inside and got stuck in the mud. Stanton would pull off the following lap due to overheating. Puckett broke away on the single file restart as Clapperton and Holland banged doors. A Chris Hunsinger spin at the top of turn 4 eased some tensions and reset the field for an eight lap dash to the finish. Stalwart Kevin Hartnett went up in smoke as the leaders took the two to go sign giving Clapperton one more chance to snag the win. Puckett aced the restart protecting the bottom and sailing back to the checkers as Clapperton, Holland, Brian Malcolm and Darwin Greene rounded out the Top 5.
