Story By: RYAN DELPH / DELPH COMMUNICATIONS – CARPENTERSVILLE, IL – Dennis Erb Racing was in the pit area at Fairbury Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois from July 23-26 for a trio of big racing programs. The dirt-slinging action kicked off on Wednesday night in a FloRacing Night in America Series contest, which boasted a $20,000 payday. With 66 entrants on hand, Dennis Erb, Jr. toured the 1/4-mile bullring quicker than any other competitor in qualifying to earn Fast Time honors and later picked up a victory in his heat race. After leading the first circuit of the main event from the pole position, Dennis slipped back to eighth in the final rundown of the 50-lapper.

Over the weekend, the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series roared into FALS to preside over the 35th edition of the ‘Prairie Dirt Classic.’ On Friday night, Dennis knocked down the ninth quickest lap in Group A during the qualifying session before advancing two spots during his 25-lap semi-feature to finish third behind only $5,000 winner Brian Shirley and runner-up Jonathan Davenport. The top-four finish locked the Carpentersville, Illinois standout into Saturday’s 100-lap ‘Prairie Dirt Classic,’ which was ultimately pushed back to the wee hours of Sunday morning due to inclement weather.

After starting the PDC from the inside of the fifth row, Dennis was able to blast past six competitors to land on the podium in third at the end of the caution-plagued crown jewel race. He trailed only $88,500 victor Brian Shirley and runner-up Brandon Sheppard to make it an all-Illinois podium in the biggest Super Late Model race of the year in the Land of Lincoln. Dennis still sits sixth in the latest version of the WOOLMS point standings exiting the ‘Prairie Dirt Classic.’ Complete results from the entire week at Fairbury Speedway can be accessed online at www.fairburyspeedway.com.

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will take the #28 team to the Badger State from July 28-August 2 for a lucrative week of racing. Up first will be a visit to Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wisconsin later tonight, July 28 for a $12,000 to win throwdown. The action will then turn to the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin for a $10,000 to win show on Thursday leading into this weekend’s annual ‘USA Nationals,’ which boasts a whopping $100,000 payday. Learn more on www.woolms.com or don’t miss a lap of the action by tuning into DIRTVision.
