Column: Herrington Hustles To The Front; Win #4 Fuels Title Charge
Column By: TIM BALTZ – BROCKVILLE, ONTARIO, CA – Another win on the season for Bobby Herrington and the Kim and Dan Dawdy racing team this past Saturday at the Brockville Ontario Speedway, which proved to be a key victory on the year.
The night began on a high note winning the qualifying heat race but due to Bobby being in the thick of the battle for his 5th straight track championship, this put him 13th in the 21 car starting grid.
Bobby wasted no time getting to the front of the field cracking the top 5 just before the half way point as he charged towards the head of the pack. As the race went on Bobby made his way to second and then patiently ran down leader Sylvain Dupuis, who had driven away from the field and seemed to be on his way to his first win.
Herrington ran down Dupuis and made the winning pass with 5 laps remaining to take control of the race and march on to a big win. How big? Win number 4 of the season, 2nd in a row, 38th of his Sportsman career at Brockville. But more importantly, put himself atop the DIRTcar Sportsman points at Brockville by 51 over Jessica Power. The win was also the 64th of his career between DIRTcar 358 Modified and DIRTcar Sportsman divisions.
The Dawdy Racing Team knows they can’t breathe easy just yet, but after the start to the season, the goal of winning another title is getting closer to becoming a reality.
Bobby and the team will be back at it this coming Saturday night at Brockville chasing a 3rd straight win, as they try to increase their points lead on one of the toughest fields in the region.
Bobby and the team thank everyone for their continued support, as they chase more trophies and checkered flags in the 2025 season.
