Heist Tackles Summer Heat Time Trial Series Event At Linda’s Speedway
Story By: KASEY KREIDER / LINDA’S SPEEDWAY – JONESTOWN, PA – Friday night was the final of six straight scheduled weekends of 270 Micro Sprint racing at the Linda’s Speedway, wrapping up their “Summer Heat” series through the middle portion of the season. While the stretch of racing had seen a different winner in each of the events, Friday’s Skeet Craft Collision 270 Time Trial Series race saw the theme of parity come to an end, as Jonestown’s own Brandon Heist tallied his fourth victory of the season, sweeping time trials, his heat race, and the 25-lap feature event.
The two-time defending track champion and current 270 points leader set the benchmark in the qualifying session by laying down a fast lap time of 12.622 seconds. Heist then wrapped up preliminary competition by cruising to the win of his eight-lap heat race, locking himself into pole position for the A-Main.
Over the course of the feature, Heist was never substantially challenged, with the exception of a few laps near the end of a long green-flag run where last Friday’s winner Brayden Spencer closed the lead down to about three car lengths. A caution with six laps remaining put the No. 4R back into clean air, and from there, Heist sprinted away over the final laps to a 1.625-second margin of victory over Spencer and third-place finisher Billy Logeman.
With Hyper Racing 600 Speedweek on the horizon for Wingless 600 competitors, Friday night provided just the third opportunity in 2025 for the Hoosier Tire Winged 600 Micro Sprint drivers to contest a feature event at the quarter-mile. A full field of cars were chasing the checkered flag, but a dominant drive by Fleetwood’s Jason Swavely erased any hope for the rest of the competition. The defending 270 National Open champ and former Wingless 600 track champion blistered around the quarter-mile all night long, and handily picked up the win over Chase Schott and Scott Lutz.
The Xcel 600 Modified division saw its sixth different winner in as many races in 2025, as Hamburg’s Dylan Cordier drove a determined race to grab victory in the 20-lapper. With car owners Steve and Amanda McLaughlin watching on from the hospital, Cordier made a bold, three-wide move on the opening lap of the race, and eventually grabbed the lead from Austin Daniels on a lap 2 restart. Daniels never let Cordier out of his sights, but couldn’t find a way back past the young wheel-twister as Cordier held on for his second-career Linda’s Speedway triumph.
In just her second All Star Slingshot start at the Linda’s Speedway, New Tripoli’s Hailey Eroh parked her No. 57 in victory lane. Last year’s Junior Slingshot champion had Brett Bieber and then Dave Carraghan breathing down her neck for the entire race. But Eroh wasn’t phased by the combined nine All Star Slingshot track championships in her rearview mirror, as the 16-year old budding star drove a flawless race to snatch the checkered flag.
In preparation for their Speedweek event next Thursday, the Skeet Craft Collision Junior Sprints put on another thriller at the quarter-mile. The race saw three different leaders, as Cole Surman led the first 12 laps before Jax Wittmer slid past on the bottom groove to take the top spot away. On a lap 15 restart, Jax’s sister Ashlyn Wittmer moved past her brother momentarily, but Jax battled back into turn 1 and took the lead for good with five laps remaining, going on to score his first Linda’s Speedway victory.
Linda’s Speedway returns to action next Thursday, July 17 with Race Tech Titanium Night No. 5 of Hyper Racing 600 Speedweek presented by Flying A Motorsports. The Wingless 600 Micro Sprints and the Junior Sprints will take center stage as they continue their week-long tour of the northeast at the famed quarter-mile.
