Jock Achieves First 358 Win; Pecore Ties All-Time Sportsman Win Record At Lazore’s Construction Night At Mohawk
Story By: ROBERT HILL JR / MOHAWK INT’L RACEWAY – HOGANSBURG, NY – After a brief delay in the schedule caused by Mother Nature, the Mohawk International Raceway was back in action as Lazore’s Construction presented a full night of racing, including round #2 of the PM Promotions Pro-Stock Series.
Limited Sportsman kicked off the evening, with Kobe Hernandez taking heat #1 over Jackson Welling. Heat #2 was won by Greysen Reddick, who finished ahead of Jacorey Thompson-Arquette. Reddick and Hernandez led the field to green, with Hernandez taking the early lead into turn #1. Jackson Welling quickly closed in on Reddick for second; however, mechanical issues forced Welling outside on lap four, after the feature was slowed twice due to stack-ups. In the end, Kobe Hernandez claimed his third win of 2025, finishing ahead of Greysen Reddick and Keith Pelkey.
The Mini-Stock division featured a strong field of 16 entries. Francis White won heat #1 over Connor White, while heat #2 was claimed by CJ Lavair with Emily Massy finishing second. White and Lavair started on the front row for the feature event. Early on, White and Lavair dominated, pulling away from the rest of the field. Massy found some pace late, adding her name to the mix, but a late-race restart proved challenging for Lavair and Massy. White held on to secure his third consecutive Mini-Stock feature win.
In the PM Promotions Pro-Stock Series heats, heat #1 saw Tyler Bushey and Bastien Caron finish as the top two. Zack Daniels took victory in heat #2 with Ricky Thompson finishing second. The third and final heat was won by Dakota Sharp, with Denis Gauvreau finishing at the top of the charts.
Gauvreau and Delbert Legrow Jr. started on the front row. Gauvreau quickly jumped to an early lead over Burton Ward and Bruno Cyr. The field slowed on lap #2 when Thompson spun off turn #2. On the restart, Gauvreau surged ahead, while Sid Harmer Jr. moved to the top side, battling three-wide with Ward and Cyr behind him. Unfortunately for Ward, a left-rear tire went flat one lap later, forcing him to pit. Gauvreau pulled away again, with Zack Daniels charging into a battle for second with Harmer Jr. Daniels took the lead during a mid-race restart, but Harmer Jr. surpassed him at the halfway point, using the top side in a three-wide duel with Daniels and Gauvreau.
The field slowed again on lap 23 for Jason Fetterly, who stopped at the top of turn #3. On the subsequent restart, Harmer Jr. and Daniels raced door-to-door until Daniels edged ahead on lap 25. Harmer Jr. retook the lead on lap 26 and held on to win round #2 of the PM Promotions Pro-Stock Series, finishing ahead of Denis Gauvreau and Zack Daniels.
Next up were the DIRTCar 358 Modifieds. Heat #1 was won by Franklin Mackin, with Tyler Meeks finishing second. Heat #2 went to Matt Woodruff, with Joshua Jock finishing second. Jock and Meeks led the field to the green flag for the feature, but a caution came out on the first lap when Lucas Fuller spun in turn #1, forcing a full restart.
On the restart, Jock and Meeks raced side-by-side to complete lap #1, with Meeks narrowly leading. Jock took the lead around the halfway point and quickly distanced himself from Jarrett Herbison and Thomas Cook. Jock held on to secure his first career 358 Modified victory.
In DIRTCar Sportsman action, Camdin Cook and Tristan Ladoucer finished second in their heat. The second and final heat was won by Joshua Jock, with Shane Pecore finishing second. Skylar Ladoucer and Cory Castell led the field to green, with Castell taking an early lead and Pecore close behind. Nick Mallette slowed to a stop on lap #5, bringing out the first caution of the evening. On the restart, Pecore took the lead at lap #5 and held on for the final 20 laps to earn his fifth win of the season, tying Dylan Evoy atop the all-time Sportsman win list at MIR with 27 victories.
