Column By: CHARLES WISLER / RPW – RAEFORD, NC – Rockfish Speedway roared back to life on Saturday night, welcoming the Legends series after a significant hiatus, and the highly anticipated return did not disappoint. Fans were treated to an evening of intense competition across multiple divisions, with five drivers ultimately emerging triumphant.

Legends Series Delivers Thrills

The Legends feature race provided some of the most exciting action of the night. Josh Sanoske captured his first win of the 2025 season in a hard-fought battle. Sanoske, ecstatic after the race, commented, “This was the best racing surface I have ever raced on.” He engaged in a wheel-to-wheel duel with Tristen Stephenson for the entire feature. The turning point came as the leaders encountered lapped traffic, with Sanoske making a fortunate lane choice that allowed him to pull away and secure the top spot.

Jackson Dominates Mod Lites

In the Mod Lites division, Donovan Jackson demonstrated his mastery, starting from the pole position and never relinquishing the lead. This victory marks his fourth win in the division at Rockfish Speedway this season, solidifying his strong performance in 2025.

Wells Capitalizes in 600s

With many Rockfish regulars attending Hyper Racing’s Speedweek in Pennsylvania, the 600s class saw Ryder Wells seize the opportunity. Wells started on the pole and faced relentless pressure from Caleb Edington throughout the entire feature. Edington patiently waited for a mistake, but Wells ran a flawless race, denying Edington any opportunity to make a move for the lead and ultimately taking the checkered flag.

Poulk Takes Win #4 in Restricted 600’s

It was only a 2 car feature in the Restricted 600’s with regulars from this division gone to Pennsylvania as well, but Landon Poulk remained ambitious and driven to capture yet another victory in the division for his 2025 campaign to capture the division crown for the season. He drove the car from pole and flawlessly delivered his 4th victory in the division this season at Rockfish Speedway.

Junior Sprints Provide Classic Rockfish Action

As always, the Rockfish Junior Sprints division delivered a high-octane performance. The 15-lap feature was a thrilling four-way battle involving Mason Rosser, Allie Jo Culbertson, Layne Gerrald, and Liam Poston. These young racers showcased immense potential, consistently putting on a show for the crowd.

Culbertson, starting from the pole, led the majority of the laps. However, as the leaders approached lapped traffic, Poston attempted to make a move for the front but got tangled, dropping him back to a fourth-place finish. In the final laps, Gerrald, Culbertson, and Rosser engaged in a fierce but clean exchange of positions, throwing blocks and trading the lead. Ultimately, Gerrald spotted an opening and made a decisive move, taking the top spot and holding on for the last two laps to secure his third win at the track for the 2025 season.

Rockfish Speedway will be back in action August 30, promising more thrilling racing action for fans.
